I'm a Rocket Mom!
Purposes for writing this page are to:
1 ~introduce fabulous Rocket Mom women,
2~ share pages I wrote in RM sessions 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, & 12.
3~encourage anyone who may have an interest in creating a webpage!
January 2012 - Well, after enjoying almost 2 1/2 years with the RocketMoms on Squidoo, it seems that the group has retired, but I will always treasure the friendships that I have made during this time with them! =D

In June of 2009, I finally bit the bullet and gave a try at my first webpage here at Squidoo. It was easier than I thought it would be to make (and so much fun), but I was very nervous to push the "publish" button that first time. What would people think of it? Would anyone even visit the page? In the first day after publishing, I received a private email from one of these ladies (one who I think very highly of) who was very complimentary and encouraging! Ok, I thought, maybe I can do this after all. Those few kind words from a stranger who went out of her way to say something nice helped me to try another page. ~ That's the kind of women that are in Rocket Moms! Have you read Rocket Moms' pages before?

Who & What are Rocket Moms?

Mission ~ Each session, the RocketMoms are challenged to create web pages (called lenses) on various topics. The RocketMoms then critique these lenses, lend support and help each other improve and promote their work. It's a challenge, a community, a classroom and a hobby. It's also an awful lot of fun!"

Session Clean Up! ~ March 2011: RocketMoms worked on improving existing pages, so this gave me time to fix some of the things that truly needed it. I made many updates, but feel like I still have tons to do. Updating and improving is a constant in all of my Squidoo work.

I was invited to join Rocket Moms in October of 2009.
I was so thrilled I joined their Ning group immediately!!
During Session 4, I was also encouraged by fellow Rocket Moms to create 50 lenses (webpages) to become a "Giant Squid - 50". With their help and advice, I made the deadline of December 31, and became a Squidoo Giant Squid in January 2010!

Session 5 brought some wonderful surprises to me!
The "Survivor Quiz" was awarded the "Rocket Mom Superstar Lens of the Day",
"Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker" (that I wrote in the fall) was featured on "Going Classical",
and "Chicago Rocks the World" was featured on "Classic Rock" at Squidoo Music!

I have to admit that I wasn't overly fond or familiar with Facebook until I visited a few Rocket Moms pages on Facebook. They were phenomenal!! There are pages for every age and topic or niche! Once again I was motivated to try one for myself with the Rocket Moms encouragement, and suggestions from my "Sisters". This is what I came up with to share my interests. I hope you enjoy them. I did not complete all of the requirements to graduate this session, but I was busy on Squidoo editing many of my lenses. The new "monsters", "trophies", and "points" became an added fun bonus! As many new people were joining Squidoo around this time, I was excited to meet many fascinating lensmasters as I read their lenses.
It was a thrill to receive several new purple stars during this session, also!

Session 12 opened another door to me via the Rocketmoms!
The RM's were asked to try out SquidAngel duties for a week. After enjoying spreading
the Squid love, I decided to apply to be a full time Squidoo Angel. I am now the
"Squidoo Angel of the Musical Instrument Neighborhood!"
It was also fun to earn my Rocket Mom Graduate Trophy!

Teamwork at its Best!
I've learned an awful lot about writing webpages, html, graphics, organization, goals, promotion, social networks, running a business, making money, and a ton of other things from this group of super women! I was very insecure starting this adventure. More than once I felt like I just couldn't keep up or do what the others were doing, but their suggestions and kind words pushed me along to complete several sessions. I hope to continue with more sessions so I may learn more with them.It's amazing to me that I could make so many new friends from literally all around the world who come together to help each other grow!
