Cool fine art photography and design: unusual landscapes, architecture, abstracts, geometric patterns, and more.

I started photographing clouds in middle school so that the skies in my paintings would be more realistic, but the new medium soon dominated my focus.

Moving from one coast to the other and back has given me cherished opportunities to photograph at sites across the United States. At home, geometry in shadows, fragments of architecture, and textures in nature draw my eye.

The best way I can think of to explain it

Walking out of a restaurant after a friend's birthday dinner with a crowd of people, two of us noticed a quarter-sized hole in the floor. As everyone else filed out, we crouched down to look through the opening. My cohort stuck his finger in the hole and pulled up a small manhole-like cover to give us a better view of the basement. While receiving bewildered looks, we pursued our curiosity.

That's often what it's like when I see something I want to photograph. Some detail, texture, pattern, or perspective seizes my attention, and I feel compelled to capture it.
