The Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse Clamping Workstation Reviewed
"If I only had another pair of hands!" How many times have you said that when working on a project that involved manipulating a heavy or bulky item? The problem is we only have 2 hands and sometimes we need at least 2 more to hold something in place while we cut it or drill it, etc. Many times there just isn't anyone available when you need help holding something and the job needs to get done. Or the person available isn't strong enough to hold a heavy object in place while you work on it. These are the times that you need a tool like the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse. This heavy duty clamping system can support up to 600 pounds and the clamp will hold it in position with up to 1 metric ton of clamping pressure.
You may have seen ads on TV for this tool and wondered if it is really up to the job of holding heavy objects on place. Especially since this is a fold up sawhorse. Can a portable three-legged sawhorse really be that good? Yes it can. I am happy to report that this is one fantastic tool. The three leg system makes it easy to level on uneven surfaces. The clamp is tightened with a foot pedal which means that both your hands can be used to position whatever it is you need to support, while your foot clamps it in place.
One drawback I have found is that the Jawhorse is on the heavy side weighing in at 43 lbs. This makes carrying this heavy duty clamping sawhorse a chore. Fortunately there is a wheel that allows you to roll it. This makes it easy to store and transport. I wish it had a bigger and more substantial wheel because the small plastic wheel is not great when hauling it over loose soil or gravel. This is a minor point and does not detract from the huge labor saving advantages of the Jawhorse.

What makes the Rockwell Jawhorse such a special tool?
The Jawhorse RK9000 by Rockwell is a powerful vise workstation. Not only is a great sawhorse, but it can be used to hold items in place while assembling or installing them.
The Jaw Horse is a heavy-duty, three-legged tripod unit that weighs 43 lbs. It comes fully assembled and folds up for storage and transport. A built-in wheel makes moving it around the worksite a breeze.
The vice offers up to 1 metric ton (2200 lbs) of force to hold even heavy items securely. The vise jaws are operated with a foot pedal, freeing your hands to position the item you are clamping. The jaw opens to a full 37 inches to hold items like a 36 inch door.
There are several attachments available, including a plywood jaw accessory, a mitre table, a special jaw for holding small logs and more.

Jawhorse Attachments
The Plywood Jaw Accessory Attachment for the Rockwell Jawhorse RK9109
While the Rockwell Jawhorse is a great clamping sawhorse workstation, it does not open wide enough to secure a sheet of plywood horizontally. Fortunately there is an attachment that is designed to do just that! The RK9109 plywood attachment allows the user to clamp a four foot wide sheet of plywood or other sheet building material. There is no need to struggle with a bulky sheet of plywood or worse, that heavy MDF board. Just attach the plywood jaw horse attachment, lay the sheet on it and clamp it to secure it. Now you can easily cut it with a circular saw, shape it with a router, or drill holes. If you are doing any work with sheets of plywood, melamine, MDF or similar sheet building material, this attachment is a must. More Accessories for the Rockwell Jawhorse
Jawhorse accessories make the RK9000 the most versitile jaw sawhorse on the market
While the Rockwell Jawhorse is not the only tripod based jaw (vise) sawhorse on the market, it is the one with the most accessories available. This flexibility makes it a great system that can be expanded to meet your specific needs.
The Plywood Jaw Attachment extends the jaws and allows the user to lock a sheet of plywood in the Jawhorse.
The Log Attachment secures a small log or other irregular-shaped object betweent he jaws. This is great if you have some branches that need to be turned into firewood or if you are building a fence.
The Work Table attachment allows you to turn the Jawhorse into a portable workbench; providing a flat surface to work on.
There is also a Miter Saw Station accessory attachment to support most miter saws and provide a convenient workstation for your miter saw. It even comes with 2 rollers to support those long pieces of wood.
The Welding Workstation secures the metal pieces you need to weld together. This makes your welding jobs easier because you can secure the objects in place and not have to worry that they will be misaligned because they were not held securely.
Finally there is a useful Saddle Bag that allows a place to keep your tools within reach of the workstation.
