Rocky Mountain Vertex 70
I've been riding Rocky Mountain bikes for about 3 years, and while I've never won a comp, I came real close on my Rocky Mountain Vertex 70. I think that was one of the best rides of my life. I had always ridden full suspension bikes until my first go on a Rocky Mountain, and since then I've never looked back.
If you are looking for a mountain bike that can comfortably negotiate bumpy, cross-country, singletracks yet still be quick and nimble on the road, then a hardtail bike is for you. Hard tail mountain bikes have front suspension, weigh less and are more pedal efficient when the terrain is smooth, than full suss bikes. A good number of single track racers still use hardtails for these reason. Check out how much you can save on Rocky Mountain Vertex 70 bikes at amazon!

Rocky Mountain keeps the laser-focused handling and funny-car acceleration of hardtails alive and well in the Carbon Vertex RSL 70. Pushing forward while staying true to the Vertexs hardtail origins, Rocky Mountain made the 70 with FORM carbon technology, giving their sponsored riders the ability to dominate XC races.
Rocky Mountain Vertex 70 Reviews
"What a great XC race bike! You really feel the responsiveness of this bike when climbing steep hills, which is where most races are defined. Handles pretty well all technical sections and descents and so far is not too bad on your back during a two hour ride."
"this bike has a very strong & light frame (3.3 lbs); perfect geometry for NW trails: short top tube, low stand-over design, high BB & stiff but compliant chainstays. Exceptional HT for both technical and epic rides."

"tough lite trail bike, good for urban riding. climbs trails like a goat & carves thru turns like a dream!"
"The paintjob is very good cos' it didn't peel though I put it thru' some tough times. Most of my previous bikes will show obvious scratches or peel-offs."
"The frame is light yet tough. In my opinion, this is one of the tougher frames of its class. Most of these lightweight frames will have slight cracking sound at the insertion point of the seatpost but my Vertex70 doesn't."
"Ride quality is good among its class. The rear triangle isn't built as thick as other bikes. This enable it to flex a little when it gets bumpy. personally, I find that the flexing is great in absorbing the minor bumps & it doesn't makes you feel like you are riding on jelly."
