Rolands TD-9 V-Drum series are top of the line and have pretty much set the standard in terms of quality and performance in the electronic drum kit market. The Roland TD9 SX is a solid performer meeting the needs of beginners and advanced drummers alike.

Electronic drum sets, like The Roland TD9 SX and Roland TD9 KX have burst onto the scene as proven performers.Drummers of all skill levels are increasingly demanding quality kits nowadays. Roland has always been on the cutting edge when it comes to electronic kits and has truly stepped up to the plate. They have done so once again with their TD9 series.

Electronic drum sets have a slew of benefits and it doesn't matter if you're an acoustic drum set fanatic or an electronic drum fan, serious drummers have never overlooked the versatility and convenience of the electronic kit, especially if it's a Roland. Let's take a look at what makes Roland V-Drums so exceptional.

How Does An Electronic Drum Set Work

Anatomy Of The Roland Drum Set

Roland Electronic Drum Kit TDSXAn electronic drum set pretty much looks just like an acoustic kit, except for the way it performs. Acoustic drum sets use traditional drum heads, cymbals and hardware. An electric kit uses pads and cymbals which are plugged into an electronic drum module,or brain which it is commonly called.

The drum module, such as the Roland TD9, synthesizes the drum strokes through sensors called triggers and outputs the sounds to your speaker system or headphones. You assign specific drum sounds to each pad or device on the kit. Roland is a leader in breakthrough designs when it comes to this type of technology.

Brains Of The Operation

Roland TD9 Drum ModuleThe Roland TD9 Drum Module is the main centerpiece of any electronic kit. A lot of time you will here it being referred to as "the brain". The module is the bread and butter of the kit and basically is what makes the whole thing work. The TD9 module offers you 50 pre-set drum kits and includes 522 drum sounds and effects which you can assign to the pads and cymbals on the kit.

Plus, you get 12 input jacks which means you can build your kit all the way up to twelve pieces. When you couple this with the Roland TD9SX hardware you now have a formidable electronic kit

The Complete Roland Set

Roland Mesh Heads And Cymbals

The kit itself has all the bells and whistles of a regular acoustic kit. Actually, you get more versatility with an electronic kit because of the ability to assign drum sounds and effects to any device connected. The difference? It's all electronic.

The pads are constructed of a mesh material which imitate the touch and feel of an acoustic set. Some drummers actually prefer the feel and bounce of a mesh head over traditional drum heads. I would have to agree.

This is an important thing to take note of. All drummers want that natural feel and bounce of the stick off of the drum head which emulates a real drum set. Roland has done a great job in this area. Once you actually play on a kit with mesh heads you'll see what I mean.

I played on one of these before and loved it! You can play with all the different sounds for hours. It has nice playing surfaces that make double stroke rolls a breeze. Great stuff!
