To begin with, in the early 60s the Rolling Stones used to
play very violent in the line of Rythm 'n' Blues.  They were
enthusiasts and cared a lot about their music. Music was the main thing
that linked them together because they'd all came from different
backgrounds, very different situations, but they'd all grown up to the
blues, and, for a time they got along.

Mick Jagger - singer, cam out of a solid middle class background and had been to the London School of Economics

Keith Richards - came from Tottenham and was quite tough.

Brian Jones wasn't tough at all, he was from Cheltenham, very safe, although insecure, neurotic and highly intelligent.

Charlie Watts, drummer, had worked in an add agency.

Bill Wyman was older, married and didn't seem to belong.
