Ideas For Valentines Day

Make It Romantic

Valentines Day, also known as Saint Valentines Day, is a holiday which is celebrated each year on February 14th. Valentines Day is the traditional day in which lovers express their love for each other by sending each other Valentines cards, flowers, or chocolates. The holiday is named after two Christian martyrs named Valentine. They became associated with romantic love.

Today, most people celebrate Valentines Day with the exchange of love notes and other symbols of their love. Here are a few ideas for celebrating Valentines Day with that special someone

. One of the best things you can do on Valentines Day is to write your sweetheart a love note. Make it a real note and not an electronic one..that is more personal. Your love note does not need to be long; however, it should to be handwritten and have some thought behind it.

. If you do not write well, you can just write a simple "I love you because..." and list the reasons for your love.

. Place your love note on your his pillow or have it delivered with some candy or some flowers sometime during the day.

. If you want to add some creativity to your Valentines Day gift, create a scavenger hunt. Your lover will need to follow the clues to get their gift. Leave clues which lead her to the next clue, and the next clue until they find your gift.

. Go out to your favorite restaurant and finish the evening with a moonlit ride together.

. You don't need to go out this Valentines Day, you can celebrate it at home by cooking for your sweetheart, or you can cook a meal for each other, together. Cooking at home can be both romantic and a lot more fun than going out and paying for an expensive meal out.

. Plan a romantic getaway. Take a trip to your favorite spot or try somewhere new.....as long as it is romantic. (The romantic getaway is my personal favorite!)

. Oh yes, don't forget to give flowers, Valentines chocolates, and your love note.

Plan B For a Romantic Valentines Day

Each year men and women spend a lot of time and energy planning Valentine's Day surprises for their beloved. However, unfortunately, each year many these plans may be ruined due to circumstances beyond their control. It is also possible that even when advance planning has gone wrong, Valentine's Day can still turn out to be a great day simply because they are able to spend the day together. Here are a few ideas how you can not just plan a great Valentine's Day surprise for your loved one but also plan a good backup plan in case something goes wrong.

One example of a Valentine's Day surprise which can be spoiled by circumstances beyond your control is a simple picnic in the park. It is a simple and romantic idea but but also one which can be influenced by the weather. Rain, snow, or incredibly cold weather can put a damper on your Valentine's Day plan for a romantic picnic in the park. The easy solution to coping with inclement weather is to move your picnic indoors when the weather becomes foul. This is simple to do and requires almost no advance planning. You can use your own house or apartment as the backup location. The only advance planning involved is straightening up your place beforehand to make a relaxing environment. You can make the indoor picnic more relaxing by purchasing CDs with nature sounds or soft music.

Planning to take your date to a nice restaurant on Valentine's Day can also backfire. Even if you make reservations well in advance, there can still be complications. For example the restaurant may lose your reservations, be too busy to honor your reservation or the restaurant could be too crowded to have a relaxing experience. If this happens, you may want to think about not having dinner in the restaurant, because it could be not at all relaxing. In case you are concerned about one of these situations occuring, you can have a plan B by being prepared to go home and cook your date a fabulous meal if the restaurant is too hectic on Valentine's Day. You can prepare by buying a few simple and versatile ingredients to create an incredible meal at a moments notice. This way you will be ready if anything goes wrong plus you can always use the ingredients later in the week, if you don't need them for your Valentine's Dinner.

Finally, consider purchasing tickets to a sporting event or concert for your date on Valentine's Day. This is a nice gift if you both enjoy them. But make a plan B if the events are cancelled for some reason. If you are planning to go to a sporting event and it is cancelled, make a plan B by inviting your date home to watch highlight tapes of previous games. You can assemble the video beforehand. In the case of a cancelled concert you can create a CD of your favorite songs by the band you were going to see.

You have some great ideas here which I hadn't thought of, especially in terms of making back-up plans. I guess living in the northern parts of Canada - for most of the past two decades - has caused me to forget what it can be like when dealing with vacations in southern provinces and other countries. :)
