Roots Canada Ltd. ~~ Trendy Clothing and Leather Bags!

Based in Toronto, Roots was founded in 1973 by Michael Budman and Don Green. They decided to create a company based on a summer camp that they attended as children in Ontario's Algonquin Park. The first item that they sold from their single store in Toronto was footwear. It was commonly known as the 'Earth Shoe' and was officially called the 'Roots Negative Heel Shoe.'

Although not all merchandise is manufactured in Canada, Roots demands that the quality of its merchandise be excellent. It has a well-respected link to maintain between Roots and Canada and strives to uphold that reputation. Roots fostered this link in the past through its hugely successful Olympic collections and by creating merchandise for concerts, cultural events and movies.

Roots created the Canadian Olympic outfits from 1998 to 2004 and has also done so for Great Britain, the United States and Barbados. Remember the 1998 poorboy hats worn by the Canadian Olympic team in 1998? They sold 500,000 of them in 1998! Those Olympic collections are still sought after and eBay may well be the best location to find them.

Roots products are made in Canada, the United States, South Asia, Asia and South America only using reputable companies and suppliers who adhere to the Roots Code of Conduct.

Factories must provide:

Wayne Gretzky, BSB, Sarah McLachlan, the Moffats, Jake, Matt Damon, Minnie Driver, Ben Affleck, Mark Wahlberg, David Beckham, Natasha Bedingfield, Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame, Will Ferrell, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, The Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team, Tori Spelling and Ashley Tisdale have all been seen wearing Roots items and/or shopping at Roots.

On October 31st, 2007, Evangelina Manu was off to work at a Montreal outlet. She noticed a van outside and two men anxiously standing by. Inside the van, a woman ws delivering a baby and, very quickly, a newborn baby girl was born and exposed to the cool October air.

Evangelina sprung into action and headed for the Roots Baby section where she purchased sleeper, blanket and hat to cover the baby.

"The whole event was really special to me because I had just had my own daughter 11 months prior, so it was very moving to watch someone do the same. It's such an amazing story for everyone involved and was such a great way to start the morning!" - Ms. Manu

She certainly has that right and this baby was lucky to start out life in some wonderful Roots Baby wear!
