Rosacea Information

Rosacea is a chronic condition pf the skin that has touched milllions of people's lives. Rosacea is often characterized with relapses and remissions. I first heard about it years ago on a television commecial for awareness and thought to myself, hmmm, I wonder if I have Rosacea. I do.

It generally starts around the age of thirty, though, though people can get it at any time, even children can have Rosacea. It is more commonly diagnosed in women, but men tend to get a case that is more severe then women.

With women, it presents most commonly around the chin and cheeks. You'll see a picture of me below, showing that pattern. IMen usually present with it on the nose.

It is common for fair complected people to end up with Rosacea.

Rosacea Information Continued

Rosacea shows itself in one of our four common patterns, but doesn't always stay consistent.

Type 1: facial redness, and sometimes visible blood vessels

Type 2: includes redness with bumps and pimples

Type 3: there will be skin thickening, which is more common on the nose

Type 4: people may experience eye irritation.

Sun exposure is a huge trigger for Rosacea! You can tell when I've been spending time in the sun, because my skin refuses to hide it! This is the number 1 trigger for Rosacea to flare up.

Other things that trigger a flare up: stress, caffeine, wind, extreme temperatures, spicy food, stress
