Rose and Flower Tattoo Designs

Tattoos are an ancient and tribal art form, dating back as far as the beginning of time. The beauty of tattoos is debatable, some thinking a tattoo scars the human body, and others thinking that the tattoo enhances the skin, which offers a perfect canvas to perform the artwork of the statement tattoo upon.

Whatever your opinion on the matter, you cannot deny the fantastic artwork that goes into the ink tattoo when performed by a true professional and perfectionist in their craft.

This tattoo combines the beauty of a red rose with the praying hands, as the red rose is also highly symbolic in religion and Christianity ~

Stunning colours

The fascination with the flower as an expression in art form within the tattoo world is an obvious one. The beauty and romanticism that the flower portrays, and the colours that flowers contain, make a perfect expression for a statement tattoo displayed upon the skin.

There is a great artistry to creating the tattoo and the end result will last many years. So it is a good idea to think long and hard just which tattoo will convey what you want it to.

A flower tends to be romantic. But when combined with a skull or dragon can take on a different effect. There are many designs to choose from and a combination of a few forms can look quite striking and individual.

~ The Red Rose Tattoo ~

The rose is the most popular flower used as a design in the tattoo world and they hold an intriguing history. Roses are given at a funeral and in this instance they symbolise respect and memory of the dead. The red rose holds a deeply religious meaning as a representation as the blood of Jesus Christ.

It also bears the mark of meaning human spiritual growth, unfolding nature and martyrdom. And the dark red rose symbolises unconscious beauty. So a red rose on it's own, or intertwined with a cross or other object bears a great statement and true beauty upon the skin.

The blood red rose- A symolism of Christ.

The flower as a tattoo design is hugely popular and no flower more popular than the traditional English rose. The rose represents many things and the most important representation is the blood of Jesus Christ and of the Virgin Mary. That's why you will often see the rose with thorns intertwined with a cross in tattoo design.

The Meanings and Significance of the Rose Tattoo Colours.

* A red rose indicates love, beauty, courage or respect, romance and passion.
* Dark red roses symbolize unconscious beauty.
* Lavender stands for enchantment.
* Coral roses represent desire.
* Blue roses mean impossibility.
* A golden rose is a sign of absolute achievement.
* Black roses are the traditional representative of death.
* Roses in pink indicate friendship, appreciation, thanks, grace, happiness and gentleness.
To see roses in light pink symbolizes sympathy and sweetness.
* Yellow roses (in addition to being the state flower of Texas) stand for joy, gladness, "Welcome back", "Remember me", jealousy or "I'm sorry!"
* If you want your rose tattoo to communicate purity, innocence, silence, secrecy, reverence, humility, youthfulness or charm, you should opt for the color white.

Representations of the Different Types of Rose

* Roses have been used for years and years to symbolize romantic love.
* They are a traditional marker of springtime.
* Roses have often been associated with the feminine and have also been used as a symbol of the female reproductive organs (hence the term, "deflower").
* A rose with 8 petals can represent regeneration.
* A rose pictured without thorns is indicative of love at first sight.
* The thorns on a rose are representative of the masculine. This makes the rose a symbol of balance, of yin and yang, male and female and their unity.
* The leaves on a rose have come to symbolize hope.
* Six roses means, "I miss you".
* Seven is a symbol of infatuation.
* Roses that form a crown indicate reward and/or virtue.
* When two roses come together to form a common stem, it signals a marriage or engagement.
* Slightly less known, to see a full blown rose on top of two rose buds is a combination that means is a sign of secrecy.
