I can't wait! I planted some for my herb garden this year and it'll be so nice to have.

Returning with a little angel dust for this lovely presentation on rosemary, I still love it in fried potatoes and had forgotten about the chocolate, perhaps you've added that...I can see that being very good and warmly refreshing with the combination of rosemary and dark chocolate.

What a wonderful, informative article! I'm bookmarking it because I love rosemary as an herb and I'll try some of these good recipes and growing tips.

I thoroughly enjoyed your lens, but then I think Rosemary is one of my very favorite herbs. I had already learned that it will not survive in a clay soil. You have inspired me to try building a bed especially for my Rosemary. I use the essential oil in one of my handmade soaps, and I love it in mashed potatoes.

Well done! Lots of useful information and nice photos. I have a couple of rosemary plants. I have to bring them indoors in the winter, but in the summer i put them in the vegetable garden. I *think* they help keep insect pests away.

Superb lens, very informative and beautifully done. Love the photographs used too. I have an amazing rosemary plant that is almost a bush now, so I guess I am the head of the household *wink. It has stayed so green, even over the winter, and my hubby who cooks, often goes out there for a cutting. *Blessed

What a beautiful lens. We grow lots of rosemary. In fact, I just planted two more bushes over the weekend. The bees love the flowers, and they in turn pollinate our citrus trees. My husband uses fresh rosemary in cooking all the time. We'll have to try it with chocolate. Looks yummy!
  • Pinkchic18 Mar 5, 2012 @ 1:09 pm | delete
This is a really neat lens! I've cooked with a rosemary spice before but never have seen it fresh. This is really cool!
  • Tolovaj Feb 27, 2012 @ 8:49 pm | delete
I use rosemary with chicken and olive oil. With brown rice it makes very tasteful dish with Mediterranean feel. One tip from the pro: be careful with rosemary because it is pretty strong and can easily overshadow other spices.
  • Mujjen Feb 17, 2012 @ 2:55 pm | delete
Never had chocolate with rosemary, that would be something to try! I love rosemary in any form, whether as medicine or in cooking. Have some growing on my balcony.

A very comprehensive and informative lens... I have started a herb garden and have had luck in germinating seeds - just germinating - then nothing.. I'm going to try grow rosemary from a cutting from my mother-in-law's very healthy plant.. if that doesn't work I'll try the simple layering technique... Thank you

I have a whole hill of Rosemary, about 600 square feet of it! Love the way it smells...and it keeps the dirt from coming down, as the hill is so steep you have to wear claw shoes or place a ladder on the hill to get up to the top. I use it in dressing for thanksgiving and on bread with olive oil.

Somewhere I read that old Romans used rosemary extensively. They thought that, among other things some of which you listed yourself, the herb helps with memory retention and stimulate thought process. Sadly how little has been done recently to find out all the benefits of this great plant.
And great lens, by the way!

I LOVE Rosemary! What a beautiful lens. I especially like the squash idea. To me, the scent of rosemary is like a cross between pine and sage. Wonderful herb. Thank you.

Oddly, rosemary is an herb whose flavor I can seldom detect. It's so beautiful too, as a garnish, or sprinkled on almost anything, yet I cannot taste it.
  • anticloud Aug 10, 2011 @ 5:38 pm | delete
Excellent lens! It makes me want to get into the kitchen right now. I love rosemary and I have some growing outside right now. I made some rosemary lemon mini muffins a couple of months ago that were a huge hit at a little house party here. :)

This is a great lens Daria. I like the style elements you added. It has a very nice look and feel to it. And of course I appreciate all of the great information you've provided on Rosemary.

I love rosemary as a seasoning (although I'm afraid I'm not so enthused about squash, so I'll have to pass on your favorite recipe).

Thanks for all the great tips about growing rosemary. Also, I enjoyed the history lesson.

If I were an angel, I would bless you :)

I've never grown Rosemary but it sounds like something wonderful to have on hand. My sister has mentioned making and loving Roesmary fried potatoes. She cuts to potatoes in small cubes and tosses in a little twig of Rosemary and keeps moving it around the potatoes and tosses it out when she serves the potatoes. Congratulations on your purple star, beautifully done!
