RUN LOLA RUN (LOLA RENNT) BY TOM TYKWER

The German crime thriller starring Franka Potente as Lola and Moritz Bleibtreu as Manniis story about a woman named Lola who needs 100,000 German marks to rescue her boyfriend in 20 minutes. Run Lola run starts with Lola receiving a phone call form Manni, a small time criminal who has lost a bag of 100,000 German marks in a train which belongs to his boss. As the doors of the train is shut Manni found a homeless man picking up the bag full of money. Manni calls up Lola and plans for a supermarket robbery when Lola asks him to wait till she talks to her father who is a bank manager.

The film is divided into three runs each of which starts from the same situation but ends differently with three different outcomes. The runs contain flash forwards showing the lives of the people Lola bumps into develop after the encounters. Like Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, Run Lola Run also features spiral images like spiral café behind the phone box of Manni and the spiral staircases. The musical scores are composed by Tom Tykwar, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. The credit for excellent cinematography goes to Frank Griebe.

Tom Tykwer (born 23 May 1965) is a German film director, screenwriter and composer.

He is best known internationally for directing Run Lola Run (1998), Heaven (2002), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) and The International (2009).
