2007 San Bernardino Mountain Fires - California

This was a lens I put up during the 2007 fires that swept the San Bernardino mountains. It was info that I was using to follow the fires from Texas, where I live now (my Dad still lives in the home I grew up in in Twin Peaks) that I figured might be helpful to others too. I decided to keep the site up as a lot of this is info that may be useful again if and when there is another major fire up there. I'm leaving all this up so I won't have to find it again. Also, a lot of these links have good local info when there are no fires to deal with.

Someone had a great idea that we can call our homes and if we get our answering machine, we know our house is still ok. (If it just rings that could just mean the electricity is off--doesn't mean your house has been damaged). If you call and get your answering machine, or know by other means that your house is safe, post it here. Please DO NOT post exact addresses...just Street Name and City (and maybe area of street or close crosstreets if it's a long road). Please also tell the aproximate time you found out the info.

I was at the base of the mountain during this fire - talk about flying ash every where. Bless the hard working fire fighters.

Amen! I'm very grateful to the fire fighters up there!

This was--IS--a really good idea. We had a HUGE fire here in Flagstaff this past summer--one of several significant fires in the area this year--and people were always looking for information. There were a number of public meetings, and the local government did a really good job of getting the info out, but another online resource like what you've put together here would have been great.

Thanks! At the time I was saving all these links on a notepad on my computer, and it dawned on me that I could put them on a Squidoo lens so others could have them handy too. Thankfully I haven't had a chance to use this since then (except to check the local webcams and see what the weather looks like back home).

It really is good that there are those that are in disaster recovery who can help when a fire or something tragic hits. I hope that we won't have a lot of these disasters so that the environment won't feel the effects as much. It juts gets so hard for the environment to heal and recuperate. www.pauldavisdenver.com
