People smell them. They fall in love with a favorite scent and they buy them. Simple and FUN!

I never thought of myself as a sales person so I wanted a product that would sell itself. All I have to do is put a wonderful candle under a few noses and the word spreads like FIRE! HA!

If you are a network marketer and wonder how candles could possibly make sense for you, well, more and more mlm'ers are finding that building a long term residual income with a candle business makes lots of sense!

I didn't want to be involved with a company where I HAD to sell products only by booking parties. I like parties and they are a great way to have fun and get the word out... but I wanted more options!!

Become Attractive to Your Customers

It's that time again!! The perfect time to retail your products!

Why? Spring is here and it's time to air out the house.

Burning highly scented candles is a perfect way to bring the fresh smell of flowers, clean laundry, spring rain, fruit, and the tropics right into your home.

Mother's Day is also right around the corner. It's also wedding, fundraising, house selling, and garage sale season. So make sure you have plenty of candles and products in stock so you can make your best money this Spring!

Obviously, the candles won't get up on their own little legs and walk to your customers so you need to get out and get walking and talking.

Do you want people to be attracted to you or run like crazy away from you?

Duh!!!!

I have 6 points that I would like to share with you to become more attractive to your candle buyers and prospective business partners

1. Know the difference between hunting and fishing. In network marketing and sales, we are to be fishers of men and not hunters of men.

The difference is what happens to the animal. In hunting, you stalk an animal, then run after it. Then you take it down with one method or another. If you are successful in hunting, what happens to the animal? It dies. You are left with a dead animal.

Now with fishing, you put out the most favorable bait for the type of fish you are trying to catch. You wait patiently and the more lines you put out, the better your chances are for catching something. As you get more skilled with fishing, it takes less time and less bait to catch more fish! What happens to the animal after you catch it? It's alive so you can release it!

So your job isn't to stalk and pester a prospect or customer. They might sign up just to get you off their back. But what kind of a business partner do they make? A DEAD one! You might make a sale but they are going to tell their friends to stay away from you and are they ever going to buy from you again? No!

You want to put the right kind of bait in the water to attract a prospect and customer and then gently and carefully reel them in and then after you land the big fish, you equip them with the tools they need to survive on their own AND RELEASE THEM!!! So much more humane!

So what are good types of bait?

· Candles and products! In our biz, the perfect bait for most people!

· Time Freedom

· Financial freedom

· Stay at home parenting

· Home-based business

· Recognition - Did you know that people will do more for recognition that they will for money?

· Inclusion and belonging

· Fun and new friends

2. Be confident! "He could sell ice to an eskimo!" That's what you say about someone who is very confident about his or her product. You have every reason to be 100% confident in our awesome candles and products. They are priced right, smell great and are very unique! So you can open up a jar with confidence. I have no problems telling my customers that the jars are $20! We don't have a sales tax so that is what I retail the jars for! I am so confident of the quality and people can feel that.

When I take my little basket in with me into businesses and other places, I have so much pride in my candles and myself that people feel comfortable buying from me. How many times have you walked into buy something or gone to a home party where the consultant is nervous and apologizes the whole time either about the prices or not knowing enough, etc. You just want to leave!!!

It's like listening to someone sing karaoke who is just terrible, it makes you chuckle nervously but all you want to do is leave because you feel nervous and uneasy for that person singing. So do your customers and prospects a favor and be confident! Put them at ease!

3. Dress and groom a notch above! One of the reasons we go into business for ourselves is for the freedom to not have to conform to a dress code or not get dressed at all until noon if we don't want to. But if you want to sell candles and attract prospects, you need to groom yourself. My rule of thumb for dressing and grooming is whatever the dress code for a particular situation, I dress one notch above the rest.

So if I'm going to run to Costco and the majority of stay at home moms are going to be in sweats and no make-up, then I will wear nice jeans, flattering blouse and my boots. I always fix my hair and put make-up on. You see I am always prepared to Lifestyle my business so I'm always dressed as if I'm working. I met one of my leaders in Costco parking lot!!

4. Relax and let the candles and the customers do the talking! I love to tell this story because I feel obligated to share it with new distributors because it revolutionized how I sell candles now. I think if you understand this one concept, it will change how you do business, too!

My son and I drove 600 miles to set up a booth at a three-day county fair in a very small community in NE Montana where I grew up. The first day was not very successful and I only sold about $100 worth of candles and I was so disappointed.

As we were packing up for the day, my son, who was 8 years old at the time, took me aside and said, "Mom, can I give you some advice about your candle selling?" My son is wise beyond his years so I was open to listen to him.

"Mom, you're doing it all wrong." Okayyyyyy

"You tell them that they are made out of veggie wax, burn cleaner than other candles, burn really long and how much they cost."

I was confused because I was thinking that I was doing great with that information so what could he possibly tell me I'm doing wrong??

"Mom."

"You gotta get 'em in love with the scent first. Any scent once they have a favorite, you are sure to sell." Wow! I was floored.

Ok, so the next day, I used his technique. I took a Sex on the Beach candle and Sweet Orange and Chili Pepper candle. As the ol' farmers would walk by I would use Bill Mitchell's favorite line "Hey, you ever tried Sex on the Beach?" The old geezer's would get all red in the face but every one of them would walk over and smell the candle.
