SDHC Cards What They Are, and How Great They Are
SDHC and SDXC Cards
What is an SDHC card, and what does it do? A SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity) cards are flash memory cards with a minimum capacity of 4GB (gigabytes). There are now SDHC cards up to 32GB. SDHC cards provide removable memory for compatible digital devices including cameras, camcorders, PDAs, MP3 players etc. Secure Digital is a specific format within the flash card market. SDHC cards are used for devices that are compatible with the SDHC 2.0. Products designed exclusively to support previous SD specifications 1.0 and 1.1 will not be able to compatible with SDHC cards. I have run into this problem a number of times, thinking that they are backwards compatible. They are not!Another type of SDHC card is the Micro SDHC card. A tiny card about the size of your pinky fingernail, with up to 32GB. I use them on my netbook with a tiny little USB Micro SDHC card reader. I have a Sandisk Micro SDHC reader, however there are many shapes and sizes available, mine is pretty small, but there are smaller.
SDXC
The next-generation SDXC memory card increasingly improves the digital lifestyle by increasing storage capacity from more than 32 GB up to 2 TB. Yes, I said 2 Terabyte!!!!! It also increases the bus interface speed up to 104 MB per second currently, with a hopeful 300 MB per second. SDXC's immense capacity will provide more portable storage and speed, which are often necessary to support new features in electronic devices, notebook computers, and mobile phones.
A 2 TB SDXC memory card could store up to 100 HD movies or 480 hours of HD recording or over 100,000 fine-grade photos. Faster bus speeds will allow professional recording to smaller camcorders and increase the number of frames shot per second with SDXC cameras.
The memory card is changing the world of electronics drastically. Making electronics smaller, more capable, higher definition, and more portable.

SD and SDXC Cards
SDXC Cards (eXtended Capacity)
cbgfilms.com Recently I've heard about these new sort of SD (Secure Digital) cards coming out, they're called SDXC, the 'XC' stands for extended capacity. And it really is, first we thought 4GB was a lot, then we though 32GB was a lot, now 2TB!? Are you kidding me!??!!! These new cards were annouced at CES '09 in January, they will be the physical size of the existing cards, and I think that they could replace optical media, and tradition hard disk drives!
