    Great lens on SEO! Whenever I begin a new Squidoo lens, I use Google Adwords and Insights to find various keywords that not only apply to my lens topic but also ones that will help my page rank (I tend to use the low competition keywords). I don't obliterate my lens with those keywords, as like you said, Google will penalize you, but it has definitely helped some of my lenses rank higher than initially expected. One of them actually ranked on the first page of google, which was a major success!
