An old craft, making a comeback!
One of my prized possessions is an old Singer sewing machine that belonged to my paternal grandmother. It was originally operated manually, with a treadle, but at some point it was equipped with a motor operated by pushing a knee pedal. I used to as a teenager to make some of my own clothes, and later as a machine for quilting. I have recently replaced it with a more modern, computerized sewing machine. When investigating my options, I was amazed at the choices, and at the resurgence of sewing as a hobby.
In this lens, I will share what information I discovered as I investigated sewing machines and sewing in the 21st century. It was fascinating to read about the historical aspects of sewing, especially with the invention of the "modern" mechanical sewing machines.
