SHOWER (XIZAO)

Zhang Yang's Shower is a story of an Old Liu who is an aged father and his younger son, Liu Erming who is mentally challenged. They work hard every day to run their bathhouse for motley group of loyal customers. One day when Old Liu's elder son who left them years ago to seek his destiny abruptly returns to his father it puts the long broken ties under stress. In spite of having a heart melting story of a heart broken old father and his son, the film is presented as a light hearted comedy before its audience by Zhang Yang. Shower explores the meaning and the value of family, tradition and friendship. Shower is written by Zhang along with a group of young script writers. The music is composed by Ye Xiaogang and cinematography is done by Zhang Jian and Bieru.

Key casts are Zhu Xu as Old Liu, the old manager of the bathhouse, Pu Cunxin as Liu Daming, the elder son who left for Shenzhen years ago and Jiang Wu as Liu Erming , the younger brother.

Zhang Yang is a Chinese film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor.He was born in 1967.
He graduated with a degree in Chinese literature, and then went to the Central Academy of Drama graduating in 1992.
Zhang Yang uses a realistic style, and achieved great recognition for his 1999 independent production Xizao (English translation: Shower), which was successful at Chinese box offices as well as international film festivals.
