Stephen King - The Dark Tower - Book 1 - The Gunslinger

Stephen King's Gunslinger is one of his best characters. Roland of Gilead is the last surviving gunslinger, you are left to wonder what could have befallen the others. Roland is a haunting figure, a loner yet known to all. You join him on a journey that has been ongoing for an undeterminable length of time. His quest is to reach the Dark Tower that he believes holds the key to the future of the world.

In this first book, Rolland encounters an alluring woman named Alice, begins a friendship with Jake, a kid from modern day New York.

He is in pursuit of the Man in Black, as the story goes on you will recognise the refences to the Man in Black and dark characters in King's other books.

As each chapter passes you will be left in suspense and longing to get on and read the next chapter. The same can be said of the book, once you have read this book you will be wanting to get on and read the next book straightway.
