SS Robin - the oldest complete steam coaster (Steam boat)

Ranked #235 in Nonprofits, #73,454 overall

About the SS Robin

The oldest surviving Steam coaster, the SS Robin can usually be seen at Docklands near Canary Wharf. Owned by the SS Robin Trust, she has been carefully restored.

Due to the work on the Crossrail project, the SS Robin will be locked in West India Quay for the next five years from 2009. As a result, she is currently at Lowestoft, undergoing restoration to ensure she survives the five years shut in, but moving and restoring a 120-year-old vessel is a delicate affair. Once she returns, the Trust plan to perform learning activities and use her as a learning centre for disadvantaged children.

Picture added - it's my archive ex-Flat Stanley project one, so its been carefully cropped. I'll switch it for a better once I get back there with a camera.
