Sachin's wax model at Madame Tussauds

It is the first instance in 1754 occasions that a celebrity's wax model has been unveiled outside London.

It took the efforts of 20 people, four months and a budget of 150,000 pounds to realise the model.

The museum's officials took about 200 measurements and references from various photographs to achieve perfection. Even Tendulkar attended a sitting in Mumbai for the same.

Here are the some of the photos,

Cricket is my religion and Sachin is my God

Sachin VS Umpiring

Tendulkar was declared leg-before in the first ODI in Dambulla when the ball was clearly pitched outside the leg stump; he fell LBW again in the second ODI when the ball was missing the leg stump, and was again ruled out leg-before by Sri Lankan umpire Gamini Silva when the ball was going down the leg side by an even wider margin.

What do you think?

it is a case of sheer bad luck for Tendulkar

anIndian says:

Sachin has always been on the bad side of umpiring errors. But, umpires are humans too and they do make mistakes. Sachin is unlucky to be at the receiving end most of the times

jayaraman says:

If cricket is the religion then sachin is the GOD

Simply poor umpiring

Abhimanyu says:

Actually they want to show that they don't get fear to give the decision against the BIG PLAYER

Kenneth Pereira says:

Tendulkar has been the greatest cricketer of all times. A very non controversial personnel in the cricketing arena. I have yet to see a cricketer who speaks with the bat. Critics are very common especially when one is not doing good. People blame the batsmen. That's when Sachin is great. He lets the tongues wag and the bat do the talking. I was watching him ball to ball yesterday and he is by all time still the master blaster. Sachin you are really the greatest and wish you all the very best. Good luck to more one day centuries and test centuries.

About Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar(born 24 April, 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is a record-breaking Indian cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden rated him as the second greatest Test batsman after Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest One-day international batsman behind Sir Vivian Richards. In 2003, this list was revised where Tendulkar was ranked No. 1 and Richards at No. 2.

He holds several highly regarded batting records and is the leading scorer of centuries in both Test cricket and one-day internationals. He is the most prolific run scorer in ODIs by a margin of over 4000 runs and has scored the most runs in international cricket as a whole. Affectionately called 'The Little Master' or 'The Master Blaster' or 'The Bombay Bomber'. Tendulkar made his first-class debut for the Mumbai cricket team aged 14 and scored a century on debut. He made his international test debut in 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi at age 16.

He is the only cricketer to receive the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India's highest sporting honour and the only cricketer and one of the first sportsmen (along with Vishwanathan Anand ) to receive Padma Vibhushan (2008), the second highest civilian honor of India. He is the most sponsored player in world cricket and has a huge fan following even amongst foreign audiences. Tendulkar has made numerous commercial ventures including opening a chain of restaurants in India.

Five greatest test innings

1) 119 not out, England v India, Old Trafford, 1990.

In England, this series will always be remembered for Graham Gooch's 333 in the first Test at Lord's. But that was not the only remarkable batting feat of the summer. For a 17-year-old playing in alien conditions, and under the most intense pressure, Tendulkar's century at Old Trafford was arguably even more impressive than Gooch's achievement. India were struggling to avoid defeat on the final day at 127 for five, but Tendulkar batted for four hours with the tail to guide his side to safety. It was his first Test century, and confirmed the arrival of a special talent.

2) 114, Australia v India,Perth,1992.

Back in the days before Perth became just another batting track, Australia's quick men would start salivating as soon as their plane crossed into Western Australia. In 1992, the WACA was as its most lethal, but Tendulkar's innings of 114 brought Craig McDermott and Merv Hughes to their knees. With wickets tumbling at the other end, Tendulkar, still only 19, met the challenge head on. The Australian public have loved him ever since.

3) 169, South Africa v India, Cape Town, 1997.

Another epic counter-attack in hostile conditions. South Africa racked up 529 in the first innings before their stellar seam attack reduced the tourists to 58 for five. Tendulkar, then approaching his peak, wasted no time in taking the fight back to the Proteas. In partnership with Mohammad Azharuddin, Tendulkar hit 26 boundaries in his century, almost all of them absolute crackers.

4) 155 not out, India v Australia, Chennai, 1998

Many of Tendulkar's finest innings were played outside of India, or in a losing cause. But his greatest series came at home, against the world's best team, and ended in a glorious victory. With Shane Warne bowling around the wicket and into the rough, Tendulkar used his eye, his feet and his innovative stroke play to destroy the greatest slow bowler in history. Warne would later admit Tendulkar's fireworks left him clueless and the Australian named Tendulkar as No 1 in his list of 50 greatest cricketers.

5) 136 v India v Pakistan, Chennai 1999.

India were set an unlikely 271 for victory, which seemed impossible when they collapsed to 82 for five. Chronically hampered by a back injury, Tendulkar stood firm and refused to accept defeat. Through dogged will and astonishing skill, he coaxed India close to the winning line before falling to Saqlain Mushtaq. Tendulkar's wicket prompted an Indian collapse, and another superhuman effort ultimately ended in defeat.

Interesting things about Sachin

Tendulkar's Dream
Sachin Tendulkar got the name Sachin because his family members were all huge fans of the legendary music director Sachin Dev Burman (SD Burman).

First step towards cricket
Tendulkar's sensational journey to cricket stardom sparked of when his brother Ajit made him meet Mr. R. Achrekar ( Cricket Coach ). Sachin failed to perform in the first go which made him very nervous but his brother's persuasion led Mr. Achrekar give him another chance.
Sachin originally wanted to be a professional tennis player. When he started playing cricket Young Sachin had aspired of being a fast bowler, It was this dream that made him undertake trials at Chennai based MRF pace academy, but his small stature proved to be a major hindrance to his aspiring career. Then he decided to take batting seriously.

Turning point in his career
It was his change of school to Shardashram Vidya Mandir in Dadar - close to Shivaji Park on his coach's advice which marked a turn around in Sachin's career. He says," I use to bat in four nets at one strech. Whenever, I use to get tired, Achrekar use to keep a one rupee coin on top of the stumps and say, "Anyone who gets him out will take this coin. If no-one gets him, Sachin takes it." Tendulkar till date contributes this technique in being instrumental for enhancing his concentration. He still treasures the 13 coins earned by him during the practice sessions.

Naughty Duo
Sachin and his best pal Vinod Kambli hold the World Record of 664 runs stand for Shardashram School in inter-school tournament in 1988. Tendulkar candidly admits that the total would have never assumed mammoth proportion had he and Kambli not ignored the man waving from the boundary with the coach's message to declare.

Gift from Sunil Gavaskar
Sachin was given a pair of pads by his cricket hero Sunil Gavaskar when he was a schoolboy - and he made his Test debut for India against Pakistan aged just 15-years old in 1989 wearing those very pads.

Love in MotorSport
Sachin seriously loves his motorsport. In 2002 he was given a brand-spanking new Ferrari 360 Modena by six-time World Champion Michael Schumacher at Silverstone!

Sachin in Bollywood
Sachin made a special appearance in the Bollywood film "Stumped" in 2003 as himself.

Tendulkar's Idol
Tendulkar's idol is the American Tennis superstar-John McEnore. During his young age, he argued and fought for McEnore with his colony friends who supported Swedish Bjorn Borg. Sachin sported a head-band, sweat-band and a tennis racquet showing his staunch loyalty towards his idol.

Superstitious Sachin
Like loads of other cricketers, Sachin is pretty superstitious - he'll always put on his left pad before his right whenever he's getting padded up.

Family Quirks
Sachin's wife Anjali tends to become nervous while he bats, whereas his brother has become so superstitious that he allows the family members to only watch the match recording.

His reactions to his dismissals
On pre-mature and early exits, Sachin likes to take out his anger somewhere. He prefers to be left alone, till he cools down.

God's Importance in his life
Tendulkar is a God fearing person, a staunch devotee of Sai Baba, Ganpathi and frequently visits temples during night when it's calm and quiet. He visualizes God in his parents. Religion to him is what his parents have inculcated in him, his upbringing and his way of life. Sachin strongly believes in the concept of re-birth, existence of Hell and Heaven. He loves celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at home with his family and believes that it firms his ties with his loved ones.

Other things
Sachin was just 17 years and 109 days old when he scored his debut Test century against England at Old Trafford back in 1990, finishing up on 119 not out.

Sachin was the first ever foreign cricketer to play for Yorkshire in 1992. Before then, only players who were born in the county were ever allowed to play for Yorkshire. But the rules were changed and in came a 19-year-old Sachin, scoring 1000 runs at an average of 46.

Sachin was the first batsman ever to be given out by the third umpire when he was run out against South Africa in the first Test in Durban back in 1992.

He uses an incredibly heavy bat at the crease, weighing in at 3.2lbs - in fact, only South Africa's master blaster Lance Klusener uses a heavier bat in world cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar got his first one day international century after playing 78 matches and five years of international cricket. People were
beginning to wonder whether he will ever get to the three figure mark but on September 9, 1994 he silenced all his critics with a masterly 110

Against Australia at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in the Singer Cup.

Great compilation...when I was in India, I was so into Cricket. But for the past decade or so, I've been out of touch, so it was great to see this lens. I remember the young Sachin when I was in Goa and we (family and friends) used to watch cricket matches.

Good work on this one! Sachin is definitely the best, if not, one of them!
