Salt Pipes for Respiratory Relief

Everything but the people in the Photo is made of salt

A few years ago we visited the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland, they have built a sanatorium underground for patients with respiratory complaints. For the visitor there is also an underground church built out of salt. It was very interesting and I can confirm you feel fantastic breathing in that salty air (even better than sea air)

Popping down a salt-mine twice a day however is not too handy, fortunately; you can now purchase "Salt Pipes". It is recommended to inhale from the pipe for 15 to 20 minutes daily

The Salt-Air Respiratory Inhaler is a convenient, drug-free and non-invasive device for enjoying the benefits of salt-air therapy. The use of salt for therapeutic treatment of asthma and other respiratory ailments, is nothing new. Halotherapy (Halo=Salt in Greek), and Speleo-therapy (Speleos=Cave), are well known in Europe. Both treatments fall under the category of physical therapy, or drug-free treatment of disease. Salt inhalation was recommended by Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, who applied the age-old method of inhaling the steam from boiling saltwater.

Salitair Refillable Saltpipe

Salitair Refillable Saltpipe

Salitair Saltpipe is a salt therapy device for home use. It has been designed to deliver the benefits of breathing the dry salty air just as the salt mine therapy in the natural salt mines or underground salt caves. Salitair saltpipe utilizes the simple curative principles of breathing salty air, but without the inconvenience and expense of trips to salt therapy centers located in the salt mines of continental Europe. The saltpipe is a handy 'pipe like' inhaler that offers you the benefits of salt mine therapy whenever you need it or wherever you are.

Salitair is a refillable saltpipe that uses pure rock Miocene halite salt crystals from the Kladowa salt mine in Poland. The benefits of salt mine therapy were first documented in Poland in the 19th century. Presently, there is a growing recognition of the benefits of the salt mine therapy for respiratory diseases with more and more people find salt mine therapy curative and reducing their respiratory symptoms.

*Halite is the mineral form of salt (sodium chloride, NaCl), commonly known as rock salt. Halite is found in ancient bedrock where large salt lakes and seas evaporated millions of years ago, leaving thick deposits of salt behind. The halite salt beds can be over 400 m thick and underlie substantial geographical areas in which at some point of time, the salt mines developed.

Chemical composition of the Miocene halite salt used in the Salitair:

- NaCl (sodium chloride) 97.5% min.

- Ca (calcium) 0.45% max.

- Mg (magnesium) 0.05% max

- Traces of potassium

Salitair is an innovative saltpipe with refillable salt chamber. Refillability is beneficial for optimum performance and hygiene:

1. Salitair salt pipe offers you the optimum therapeutic performance of fresh Miocene halite salt crystals with each refill.

2. Salitair improves hygiene as the salt chamber can be emptied for a complete and thorough clean of the entire device for maximum levels of hygiene.

Salitair is a saltpipe that has been designed to recreate a microclimate of a salt mine or a salt cave, giving you access to fresh salt therapy at any time you need it!

Elipipes The Children's Favorite and Fun Too

Eli-pipe is a Saltpipe designed for children. It is a natural product that produces the benefit of natural salt air to aid the breathing system. You have surely noticed that when children having asthma go on holiday to the seaside, the attack of asthma seems rarely to happen. Because salt is natural product and it has been used for centuries to cure breathing problems, it is safe for children. Many parents got an Elipipe for their children and found that their children got benefits from inhaling through Elipipe.

Saltpipe/Eli-pipe is recommended to use in children who are minimum of 3 years old. The only reason for this age limit is a practical one of whether they are able to use it. Children need to be taught to inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose or inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose/mouth without blowing air back into the pipe, otherwise the salt crystal in the pipe may be damaged.

Introducing Saltpipe/Eli-pipe to young children, it is advised that the parent should use it for couple times before handling it to the child. The salty air in the saltpipe at the first use is a bit salty and may put children. The parent could help by using it and when they feel the salty taste beginning to disappear pass it on to their children. parents should in any case supervise younger children.

There is no technical different between the quality and quantity of Elipipe and adult saltpipe called "Salipipe" but the elephant shape will make children more motivated to use it.

Salt Pipes Testimonials

Salt Pipes Testimonials Salt Pipes in the Media

The Sun said that The Saltpipe "could offer new hope for Britain's 8 million asthma sufferers". And that "Trials in Budapest found three out of four patients improved after using the device for 15 minutes a day."

In April, OK Magazine said:

"Living by the sea can work wonders for those who suffer from respiratory problems such as asthma. The Saltpipe offers a breath of fresh air without having to set foot on the beach... The Saltpipe can also treat snoring, common colds, infections a0nd problems caused by smoking".

And in the same month, The Daily Mail claimed:

"A trial involving asthmatic and allergic patients and those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease showed The Saltpipe improved symptoms in more than half of them."

The Mail also ran with the story of Sam Clayton, an asthma sufferer.
"Now I'm free of my inhalers!"

Sam was regularly hospitalised by her illness and unable to exercise. She couldn't walk very far without risking her health.

After she tried the Saltpipe she said:

"I've had chronic asthma for 20 years and have always had to use my inhalers several times a day without fail. But now I'm free of them. I gained real benefit from the pipe within a couple of weeks. It feels like I don't have asthma anymore."

Another user, Mrs Frances Hammond, of Wiltshire, says:

"The Saltpipe is fantastic and not only has my health improved dramatically, I have also been able to give up my dependence on steroid drugs. I still carry my Ventalin as a precautionary measure but amazingly, I have not used it for weeks.

I am also delighted that for the first time in four years, and since moving to the country, I've been free of using antihistamnines. The Saltpipe has in short, been the answer to all my respiratory and allergy problems."
"I feel fresh energy in my lungs and the tiredness feeling has gone"

Hayley Robinson also felt powerful relief within a month:

"I obtained my Salt Pipe in September and started to use it for 15-20 minutes daily. After one month I felt a fresh energy in my lungs and the tiredness feeling had gone!"

As did Elizabeth Farkas:

I've had hay fever for 6 years. The symptoms attack me especially during the summer months, but at other times of the year as well. I received my Saltpipe as a present from my parent last August. I started using it immediately. To my greatest surprise I started to feel its benefits after a couple of days. I couldn't believe how well it worked!
  1. It is a natural inhaler used to cleanse the airways and lessen asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, flus, and just effects from pollution. I've only been using it for 2 days and have only had to use my inhaler twice...once each day. I usually use it 6 or more times a day. The device is supposed to last for 5 years if used 20 minutes a day.I love inventions that are self contained , don't need electricity, medical prescriptions, etc. I just can't believe the results I've gotten so far and they claim that many people improve more over time.

Salt and Health

Salt is essential in our diet but not too much. If we consume too much our bodies work overtime to eliminate it.
Another strange fact is that chemically pure salt (NaCL) would be very bad for us, we need the impurities found in sea salt.
Table Salts traditionally concentrated on being easy to pour this was achieved by adding anti-caking agents. Table Salts were also heated to very high temperatures to remove the trace elements we actually need.
People increasingly prefer Sea Salts which contain a wide variety of essential trace elements.
It is advisable to purchase the best possible Salt for cooking.

Do Salt Pipe Inhalers Really Work?

What are the Benefits of Salt Pipe Inhalers

The Saltpipe Dry Inhaler is light and ergonomically shaped and can be comfortably held in one hand. Shake the inhaler twice before use. Insert the pipe into your mouth and inhale through your mouth. You do not need to inhale more deeply than during normal breathing. Always exhale through the nose, as this ensures that the complete respiratory tract is thoroughly cleansed. The one way airflow safety valve in the saltpipe will prevent you from breathing out back into the pipe. You may experience increased expectoration after use of the pipe, which shows that the saltpipe and the salt therapy work and the cleansing of your respiratory tract has begun. The pipe should be used for 15 - 20 minutes daily, either all at once or in shorter sessions throughout the day

NaCl is a true miracle maker when it comes to allergies, but the therapies must be on the individual level as not every therapy works for everyone. My teen daughter's allergy was gone after only several months of using NaCl in the form of homeopathic remedy, but that was her. It doesn't have to be the same for others.

Hmm, I live at the sea and breathe salt air about 9 months per year--and still suffer from allergy congestion. The other 3 months may be slightly worse; I am not sure. Based upon this and your poll, I would say there are other factors at work that determine whether salt air can help a particular person or not.

Never heard of a salt pipe, but it makes total sense! From a chemical reaction, comes a anti-inflammatory reaction. Inflammation is a cause of many illness, so creating a sodium vacuum often produces a wellness effect. People who live near oceans or salt-beds, are often healthy and live longer....

Salt pipes should have benefits connected with intermittent hypercapnic hypoxic training since the composition of the gas in the lungs changes (more CO2 and less O2). Both effects favor breathing retraining and our basal or automatic breathing pattern becomes slower and lighter after the breathing session.
In particular, salt pipes have similarities with the Frolov breathing device (there are several other devices used in the former USSR and Russia these days). For details related to the Frolov device see, http://www.normalbreathing.com/frolov-breathing-device.php

No, I dont use a salt pipe because my asthma was completely relieved by a homeopath using extract of lobelia - I dont say cured because once you have suffered asthma you never take anything for granted but if I ever get "chesty" again, I may just use a salt pipe.

Lesley, it is the hidden salt in processed foods that is causing these problems, where people get 50% of their daily requirements in just one serving, next to this any salt ingested via a salt pipe is minimal. I would always mentioning your use of a salt-pipe to your doctor.

I am not qualified in any way medically and this cannot give advice, but I would say you are only breathing in salty air, I mean just like if you were at the seaside, but do consult your doctor first. Lots of people use salt pipe inhalers because a) the medical ones aren't working and b) because they worry about the side-effects of the chemical inhalers.
