A Piece of Americana

I remember when I was a kid getting Salt Water Taffy at Conneaut Lake Park, Cedar Point and Niagara Falls. It was always the first place I went. I loved the flavors, the colors and the beautiful pastel boxes that the taffy came it. As an adult I am in love with the aging taffy stands. These old beauties represent such an important part of our American history and our love affair with amusement parks and carnivals. From Atlantic City to the California Coast Salt Water Taffy represented youth, family, and fun. I only hope that we can preserve these wonderous structures so that our children can experience the simple joy of opening a piece of taffy and forget that we live in such a fast-paced world.
