Santa Marta For travelers

The quickguide to Santa Marta Traveling

Santa Marta is a very interesting place located in the Caribbean in the northern part of Colombia. Is one of the oldest cities in South America, it was Simon Bolivar´s ("El Libertador") home and favorite place, it is also the place where he died. If you are stopping by Santa Marta this is definitely the first place you want to go to, "La quinta de san pedro alejandrino" Simon Bolivar´s estate, the place where he lived and died, what a beutiful property, a place packed with beutiful trees and

surroundings with a chapel located in the central garden, what a magnificent piece of architecture. After taking off from "la quinta de san pedro Alejandrino" be sure to go for a ride around town, meet the historic center with all its magic and forclore, a place that remains untouched in many ways mantaining the colonial architecture , but also a place where the night life takes place as it is full of discos and bars where lots of people from around the world meet and have a great time. There are many restaurants also in this area as you may want to have a delicious dinner in th e beutiful "historic center" of Santa Marta. Dont forget to go to el Rodadero , is an awesome part of town with a more island like attitude , more hip to day place, excellent for walking, having a swim on the beach, eating ice cream, having brunches, lunches or dinner, going to party, riding boats or wave runners, etc. It is more touristic appealing for the average traveler. Also visit taganga a fishermen town more oriented to backpacking tourism, it is filled with cheap hostels, and also a couple of nice expensive hotels, this is place to go and relax! Please go to el Parque Tayrona, this natural park contains a set of beaches that spur from "La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta" and within this park is the place that you , me or anyone would call "Paradise" without any doubt this is the place you cant miss, because if you go to Santa Marta and you dont visit the tayrona park you will be missing a whole lot, you will be missing the most beutiful beaches in the world !! You will have the chance if you decide to walk up la Sierra Nevada and visit one the unknown indian towns recently discovered home of aborigen Tayrona´s known as "la ciudad perdida" or "the lost city", if you want you can continue going up la sierra nevada embarking an adventorous vacation while you climb up the 5000 plus meters mountain and try to set your own mark by trying to reach the snowy peaks! well dont forget to be checkin´out this page for more updates and pictures of all the places i´ve mentioned above.
