Saturdays - the girl group- fan site

Saturdays are a UK girl group that released their first single in July 2008, followed up by their album in October 2008. They've now released their second album as well as a succession of singles, the most popular being "Up". All bar one have been in the top ten, and while they haven't yet broke number one, they plan to rival Girls Aloud and the Sugababes for the crown of "Best British Girl group".

There are five girls in the band - from left to right, Frankie, Rochelle, Una, Vanessa and Mollie. This fan site will fill you in on the girls' histories, as well as posting a youtube link to their best songs.

Vanessa White

Vanessa White is the youngest member of the Saturdays. She was born on 30th October 1989 in Somerset, Southern England. Her father is English and her mother is from the Philipines. She has the strongest voice in the band and usually does lead vocals. She prepared for her role in music by attending the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.

She's dating a jazz singer called Adam Chandler.

Vanessa is taking part in the ITV1 reality TV show "popstart to operastar".

In week one, she ended up in the bottom two, but survived to go through to the next round. Click Vanessa White Show 1 to go through to YouTube to see her performance in week 1.

Vanessa ended up in the bottom two again in week 2, and this time left the competition. It was all down to not practising enough due to other commitments. To view the drama backstage and the performance itself, click here to go to Youtube for Vanessa Week 2

Frankie Sandford

Frankie (short for Franchesca) was born on 14th January 1989. She used to be in the children's pop group S Club Juniors (along with Rochelle), which split up in 2004. She is currently going out with Dougie Poynter from McFly - it turns out that the two of them fancied each other from when she was 14 and in the S Club Juniors and he was 15 and in McFly.

"It's taken us five years to get to this point," she smiles. "We never actually met each other. We both loved each other, and we'd both fancied each other from afar for years. And we never managed to bump into each other. Then, one of the first main things we did as The Saturdays, McFly happened to be doing. And we met and finally got together."

She told Heat magazine that her pet peeve was baring her belly, which she is self-conscious about since she had her appendix out.

Mollie King

Mollie was born on 4th June 1987 in Richmond Surrey and she really is posh, with a private education. She also represented Britain at skiing till she was 17.

She was part of the girl group FallenAngelz, which competed in X Factor in 2007, which made it past Boot Camp, but didn't get selected for the final 12 who featured in the Live Finals. She left the group in 2007 to join Saturdays.

She's dating Andy Brown, who is a singer.

Una Healy

Una Healy was born on 10th October 1981 and is the oldest member of the Saturdays. She is Irish and started off in Irish rock bands.

She is currently dating Rugby player Ben Foden (she says that he asked her out by getting his agent to send her agent an email asking if she would like to meet him!)

Rochelle Wiseman

Rochelle was born on 21st March 1989 i Romford Essex. She was also in S Club Juniors along with Frankie.

She used to date bass player Adam Breakdown of The Breakdowns but now dates Darren Randolph, an Irish football player who plays for Charlton.

The Music

So far the Saturdays have produced two albums, Chasing Lights in October 2008 and Wordshaker in October 2009.

The following singles have been released from the Chasing Lights album:

* If this is love released June 2008 reaching No 8 in the UK charts
* Up released October 2008 reaching No 5 in the UK charts
* Issues released January 2009, reaching No 4 in the UK charts
*Just Can't get Enough released on 1st March 2009 for Comic Relief, reaching No2 in the UK charts (the highest ever position for Saturdays)
*Work released in July 2008. This peaked at 22 in the UK charts.

Their second album Wordshaker was released on 26th October 2009. The first single from the album, Forever is Over was released on 5th October 2009 and peaked at #2 in the charts.

Polydor, their record company have put the video for Forever is Over onto YouTube (though embedding is disabled). But you can click this link to listen to it. I really liked it. Like Up it showcases their strongest singers, Vanessa and Una, and the single therefore works. I feel the reason Work didn't do so well was because there was too much Mollie, Frankie and Rochelle and not enough Vanessa and Una. The next song to be released was Ego in January 2010 - you can listen to it by clicking here. It's not as strong a single as Forever is Over and peaked at number 9 in the UK charts.

The third album Headlines! was released on 16th August, and the first single from it Missing You peaked at number 2. Higher was released in November and was remixed to include Flo Rida. It peaked at #10.
