How Savatage Started
Savatage was originally started by two brothers. They were Jon and Criss Oliva. They rode in on the hair metal craze. Although they don't really qualify as a hair metal band. I don't know the exact date, but around 2000 or so, Criss died. After that, Savatage evolved into The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The rest, as they say, is history. I have quite a few of their albums, and I have my best friend to thank for introducing me to this band.

What's Your Opinion?
I have to say no. Although Savatage was a good band, these guys are far too talented to spend their whole lives doing metal. They've found another creative outlet for their talents, and I think that's great!
Should they have remained a metal band?
Yes, that's what they started out as.
No. If you've got musical talent who cares how you share it.
