Slash Your Grocery Bill With These Easy Tips!
A typical stop at the supermarket used to cost $7.00, now it's doubled and seems to be climbing so I set out to figure out how I could save money on my grocery bill and here is what I have discovered.
Along with the traditional methods of price matching at Wal-Mart, clipping coupons, and watching the grocery ads, there are a few places to purchase groceries for less that you may have overlooked.
Check out the latest in grocery bill savings.
Look for a co-op in your area!
There is a new trend in grocery shopping cropping up all over the nation. Food co-ops are volunteer run organizations who purchase wholesale produce from the local warehouses just as a restaurant or grocery store would. Purchasing from the warehouse and cutting out the retail outlet allows for each member of the co-op to receive their goods at substantially lower prices.
These co-ops often sell baskets of produce, organic produce, breads, cheeses, spices, oils, honey, and occasionally meats. The co-op will often require that the members bring their own containers to transport the good home in. My local co-op uses laundry baskets. I get a large laundry basket full of fruits and vegetables for $16.50 every two weeks.
This is the best way I have found to save money on fresh produce, cheese, and artesian breads. The produce is of high quality, and often times fresher then at the local farmers market (another great place to find cheap, fresh produce).

Save Money on Meats by Shopping the Local Bulk Stores!
Buy in BulkMeat seems to be the item that has really gone up in price lately. The best deals I have found on meats have been at the local warehouse stores. Yup, the good ol' bulk stores like Costco and Sam's Club where you can get enough toilet paper to dress a whole football team like mummies at Halloween.
By taking advantage of my freezer and buying items in bulk, I have been able to reduce my grocery bills substantially. I have also been able to increase the amount of time in between shopping trips! I buy in bulk and freeze everything. Large pallets of ground beef, bags of chicken and fish, large packages of cheese, and many cans of tuna fish.
