Scotland - My Homeland
This is 0ctavia's Scotland
There will be more lenses added here as time goes on, I already have several more planned and, since there is so much to say about Scotland and the Scots, there is an enormous number of lenses to be made.
If you like what you see in the lenses featured below then maybe you'll consider a visit to Scotland, there are so many folks the World over who have ancestral ties to this country, it's sure to feel like coming home.

Grantown-on-Spey
There is certainly plenty to do in the area if you are an active, outdoors type and even if you are not, you can still find enough to fill your days. It's actually possible to visit Edinburgh or Glasgow for a day trip by train or coach, if it takes your fancy. Scotland is not a huge country and where I live is pretty central. You could come to Strathspey for a fortnight and 'do' much of the rest of Scotland from here.
Two to three hours drive will take you to the East Coast or the West Coast and you'll find that everywhere there is something of historical importance. We have quite a number of castles, some crumbling, some open to visitors. Within a small radius of my home there are three castles.

1950's memories from Scotland

Broom flowers in June
The worst of the snow usually comes after Christmas and New Year are over and can result in the children having a few days off school, no great hardship as long as there's a sledge handy. In the Summer we often have fabulous weather with soaring temperatures although at the mountain summits it can be very cold all year round and we can just as easily have torrential rain as glorious sunshine.
If you're visiting Scotland at any time of year, you need to pack a few extra jerseys and your wellington boots as well ... just in case.

- I was disappointed to learn that a family name, Ashburn, was NOT Scottish, but English. However, I'd still love to tour Scotland one day...it looks so-o beautiful. Your lens does it justice! 5*

- Beautiful lens and gorgeous pictures - you've done an excellent job portraying Scotland. Makes me want to visit. The closest I've come is interchanging flights at Heathrow airport ;). Everytime I go down to Goa, it's never enough time with my family so I don't go elsewhere. I've always wanted to tour Europe...I will someday...5*s on this one!

- We've had several holidays in Scotland and always loved it even though it's a long way to drive as we live in southern England. We've been all over - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fort Augustus, Inverness, John O'Groats, Skye, Ullapool, Fort William, Oban and many more places too numerous to mention.
The scenery is magnificent and the Scots are welcoming and generous. We got taken out on a trawler when they were going out one night fishing for free - just because we got chatting to some of the crew in a pub. What an experience that was!
I constantly hanker to go back and visit again - maybe one day.
Wonderful lens that has made me want to revisit even more.
