Driving Traffic To Your Web Site

Good search engine optimisation is about driving qualified traffic to your company's web site. Rather than clicking on a paid advert and costing you PPC cash, you want your brand name to be on the tip of an intenet user's fingers when they are in the buying cycle.

At Top Position we believe that effective SEO is not just about links and rankings, it's about internet visibility and brand exposure. To achieve this, we use online PR and article marketing. How Do You Track Search Engine Optimisation?

Tracking the progress of your search engine optimisation campaign can be tricky. The temptation to log on to Google every five minutes can be overwhelming but when you eventually have to go to bed or go back to running your business, odds are you'll want good, reliable information at your fingertips when the bug hits again.

At Top Position we've found that the best way to track SEO activity is to monitor incoming links and web ranking. You can get great software to do the hard work for you such as Advanced Link Manager and Advaned Web Ranking. They'll both give you updated info 24/7. There's more about how we use these programmes for our search engine optimisation clients on our web site.

Of course, the best way to judge the progress of your SEO campaign is by measuring your orders. If your phone starts to ring and the email starts to buzz, you know your SEO campaign is doing its job.

We also encourage our SEO clients to log on and check out magazines, blogs and web sites related to their product of service. Any mention of your company name and a link to your site shows that the SEO is doing its job and more people are becoming aware of your brand and your web site.

What is On Page Optimisation?

On page optimisation refers to the process of adding content to your web site in order to aid your search engine optimisation efforts.

Aspects of on-page SEO include titles, alt tags, links from one page of the site to another, frequency of new content added and the use of keywords within that content.

So, to make sure your search engine optimisation doesn't go unnoticed, here's our run down of things to do...

1. Add new content to your web site at least once per week.

2. Make sure this new content is well written and relevant to the people viewing your web page

3. Include keywords in this text.

4. When you add new pages to your web site, give each page an appropriate title. Ideally, this title will include at least one keyword.

5. Add meta keywords and meta descriptions to these pages, again featuring keywords. They shou;d concisely describe the content of the page.
