The truth about People Search Engines

Go ahead, laugh at my incompetence. I am after all a failed internet marketer. You name it i've tried it.

Now don't get me wrong, many of the above DO make people money. The difference between them and i however is those making the money are more often than not the marekting gurus with the huge mailing lists and PPC spending power. I am just the little guy trying to get started without going broke.

I could waffle on here for hours about why/how the above mentioned systems work or dont work but i need to get to the point of why i am writing this lens, and that is:

People Searching

Still here? Good. Chances are you've read somewhere all the hype surrounding people search engines. Excellent, you've done your homework. Now lets deal with the facts. People Search is HUGE. It has been growing rapidly year on year will be huge 50 years from now. People always want to find people, or should that be "People always want to find INFORMATION on other people". Its human nature for heavens sake! Be it finding a lost love, old friend or running a background check and playing net detective on a new employee. People searching is here to stay folks.

At this point i was going to run off some facts and figures to backup my claims but thats not really the point of this lens. Do some research on Google, the facts are easy enough to find.
I grabbed my own little piece of the People Search pie with SearchWho.info and i urge you wholeheartedly to do the same.

Every internet marketing pitch youve heard start the same way:
97% of internet marketers fail because....

before going on to tell you the 'secret' that is keeping you from making money on the internet. Stop right now! The real reasons are as follows:

A, You are spending all your hard earned cash buying these so called guru's ebooks telling you what you should be doing or

B, You are attempting to copy what these people are doing.

Both options are fundamentally flawed. Lets have a look at A,

Jonny NoStars is selling an ebook (or similar) on his website for £67. You have browed to said website in search of answers and are taken in by the seductive sales pitch. You part with £67 in exchange for an ebook filled with information on how Mr NoStars made his fortune and various other bits of information available for FREE on google by doing a little research.
So, the ebook gathers dust on your harddrive, Mr NoStars gets a little richer whilst you continue to look for the next big thing and get a little poorer.

And now B,

You see that Jimmy NoStars (Jonny's brother) is promoting a particular product or 'elite membership' site on his webpage. You decide that it must be a good idea since he's doing it and copy the strategy. You build your blog, squidoo lens, webpage and write countless ezine articles. You get a tiny little drizzle of traffic and so you turn to Google PPC. You spend £100 on a campaign, get a little traffic but no sales - what on earth is going on you think to yourself?!
Easy. The guy whose website you visited in the first place is a 'big player' and he has a huge budget to play with. A budget for his PPC campaign far in excess of yours, a budget to pay master copywriters so the sales pitch is just right - the list goes on and on and on.
You copy, you fail. Simple as that.

Now all this may seem rather negative and if i'm totally honest then at time of writing i am a little peeved. I am sick and tired of these guys taking money from good honest people like you and me and destroying our hopes and dreams for a better life in the process.

Ending in a more positive vein, there ARE still ways for people like you and me to make money online. We are never going to compete with the top marketers (at least until we become experts at what we do) so why bother trying?
Find a growing niche (easier said than done i know) and start there with a simple blog. Cherish it, nurture it and above all have PATIENCE with it. Anything on the internet takes time to grow due to the sheer size of the beast.

Personally i am involved in a few different endeavours these days, my favourite being People Searches. This is a HUGE market which although fairly saturated now is only going to grow and grow. This doesnt make me a fortune but its pretty much guaranteed to make you at least some money whilst you are learning and the outlay is minimal if at all.
