If you're anything like I am, then it doesn't matter what time of year it is or whether it is summer or winter, you are constantly warmer than everyone else you know. I've found that one of the best ways to fix this is by using high quality ceiling fans throughout the house and it has been my experience that Hunter ceiling fans are the best of the of the best.

An overview

Are you in the mood to add a high quality, highly efficient ceiling fan to your home? If so, I implore you to take a look at Hunter ceiling fans. In this lens, you'll discover how easy it is to select a Hunter ceiling fan to fit your style, mood, attitude or character.

Materials you'll need

1. Tape measure (a must)
2. Pencil and paper (also a must)
3. Calculator (only if you don't want to do relatively simple math in your head or on paper)
4. An eye for what looks good (remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder)
5. A printed brochure with Hunter Fan Company products
(or)
6. Internet access to see what products are available
(five and six are good to have for brainstorming and deciding exactly what you want before going to the store, but are not necessary if you don't mind a little window browsing)

Step 1:

Select The Size Of Your Fan

This is as easy as determining the size of the room you are wanting to put the ceiling fan into. To do this, all you need to do is figure out the area of the room, which will give you the square footage. All that is required is a tape measure and simple math. Just measure the length and width of the room, then multiply the numbers together: this will give you the square footage.

As a general rule, the bigger the room size, the bigger your fan will need to be. For instance, if your room is 350 square feet then you'll want at least a 42" fan. For in depth chart on selecting your fan size, check out this link - determining the blade size of your Hunter ceiling fan.

Step 2:

Mounting Your Ceiling Fan

Is your ceiling flat or slanted? Low or high? When it comes to mounting your ceiling fan, for most ceilings, all you'll need is the Installer's Choice 3-Position Mounting System that actually comes with most Hunter ceiling fans. This is great because it means that you won't have to get any extra parts to get your fan mounted right out of the box.

But if your ceiling is really low, then your choices will be a little more limited as you might need to get a low profile mounted system. This allows your fan to be mounted closer to the ceiling so it won't be hanging in your way. It also keeps more distance between the fan and the floor which helps with circulation.

If your ceiling is really high, then you may need a downrod extension to keep the fan at a reasonable height or else it will lose its cooling effect when it is too far away from the ground.

For more information and tips on how to measure your ceiling, then you may want to see this article, Hunter ceiling fan, choosing the mounting system.

Step 3:

Using A Light

Using a light with your ceiling fan just makes sense. Unless you're mounting your fan in a low-ceilinged room or you already have separate ceiling lights, then adding lights to your fans will save space and add style at the same time.

As with the fan style, there is a huge assortment of different lights to choose from. Sometimes your fan system will come with light, other times it won't. The good thing is that you can get one to either add to your lightless fan or to replace the one that came with it. When it comes to selecting a ceiling fan light, there are many different ones to satisfy all of your tastes and it truly is just a matter of finding the right one.

There are other advantages to using a Hunter light as well. They're cost effective and energy efficient. For more on that, this link, Hunter ceiling fan lights, should shed some light on the subject!

Step 4:

Controlling Your Fan

There are three main ways to control your new Hunter ceiling fan.

One of the ways involves dials or some kind. One dial involves a continuously variable rheostat that can set the speed of the blades anywhere from off to full on high. The other dial is a rotary switch that chooses between off, low, medium, and high.

The second way makes use of sliders. These sliders work just like the dials. There is a continuously variable version and one that only allows selection of predetermined speeds. An added benefit of using sliders is that you can tell what setting your fan is on from distance with a just a visual inspection of the switch.

The third way of controlling the fan is by using a remote control. These come in handy whether you're laying in bed late at night or just enjoying your favorite chair but don't want to get up just because it's a little chilly and you need to turn your fan down.

The light controls work the same way and you can even combine them with one switch housing.

Step 5:

Pick Out A Style And Color

This is the fun part! No matter what the décor of your home, Hunter has so many style and color choices that they are bound to have at least one to suit your needs. You can get antique designs or modern designs. You can get designs made specifically for certain areas such as bathrooms. There is definitely no shortage of styles to choose from.

And as for colors? They've got you covered there, too. Whether your preferences lie with bright and bold colors, or pastels, or classy bronze and brass you can be assured that you'll be able to find whatever your room and heart desires.

One neat feature is that most Hunter ceiling fans come with blades that are reversible. This means that one side of each is all one color while the other side is a different color. This way, you can very easily change the color and style of your Hunter ceiling fan on whim!

Step 6:

Go Buy Your Fan

You've done all the preparations, now all that's left to do is go buy your fan. Once you've got it home and installed, you can look forward to enjoying your new Hunter ceiling fan for a lifetime to come!

Everyone loves a good Hunter ceiling fan!

You might say that ceiling fans are for the birds, but even this little tweeter knows a nice fan when it sees one!
