Self Catering Cornwall - A Holiday To Remember
Cornwall Holidays
The weakness of the Pound against the Euro and other currencies, means that many people (both Brits and visitors from abroad) are looking at the old traditional tourist areas in the UK this year for their holidays. Cornwall has always been high on the list for those seeking sun, sea, sand and wide open spaces in Britain. If you are planning on visiting Cornwall in 2009, you may have thought about where you would like to stay. Whilst hotels offer one option, self catering Cornwall accommodation provides a more personal and unique experience for the traveller.
Your choice of accommodation in Cornwall can turn a good holiday into one that will furnish you and your family with many cherished memories.
Holiday cottages provide you with a home away from home. Compared to sitting in a bland, impersonal hotel room, holiday cottages and other self catering venues give you total privacy whilst making you feel at home.
Renting a house, cottage, or flat gives you your own personal space to come back to where you can relax in comfort at the end of a day of activities in Cornwall. You have the freedom to come and go as you please, cook your own meals when you like, or eat out if you prefer.
When choosing your self catering accommodation, the criteria you will need to consider are; the location, the number of rooms/beds required, how many bathrooms are available? Is the kitchen adequate? Is there a wet room? What linen is provided? Will you have access to television, DVD, CD, BBQ and any other items you might require? Also are any more luxurious facilities provided? Pool? Gymnasium?
It is also helpful if you can look at photographs which will give you a more accurate idea of what you might be renting, and comments made by previous visitors will also help you form your opinion.
The traditional way to find self catering accommodation in Cornwall, was to search through publications like 'The Lady' which had an excellent section of classified and display advertisements, and of course, there were always plenty of advertisements to scan through in the 'Sunday Papers' and many other publications. These are still pretty good places to start your search and you might want to consider them first.
Nowdays, the internet makes it a breeze to find the accommodation you are looking for. All you need to do is fire up Google (or your favourite search engine) and type in the criteria you are looking for. You will be astounded at the amount of choice and variety you will be presented with. There is something to suit every taste and every pocket in Cornwall.

Self Catering Holidays Rock
Rock is stuated right across the Camel estuary from Padstow. It is very popular with the rich set, rather pricey and is sometimes refered to as 'Chelsea on Sea'. It can come across as somewhat elitist. It has, as does Padstow on the other side of the estuary, a long expanse of beautiful sandy beach. Being sheltered from the open sea makes it an ideal place for water sports and of course, its sailing club is very well known, but all the other water sports that spring to mind can be enjoyed here, for example canoeing, kayaking, angling, windsurfing and rowing.
Padstow is easily accessible by ferry, and being the popular place that it is, there are always plenty of people going backwards and forwards across the estuary, many of them no doubt, going over to Padtow to sample Rick Stein's fare.
Polzeath Cornwall
Self Catering Holidays Polzeath Cornwall
Polzeath is situated on the headland across the Camel estuary from Padstow. It enjoys two main claims to fame; one, it is a surfers paradise, and two, it was popular throughout his life, with John Betjeman, the Poet Laureate.
As with other places along the Camel estuary, it enjoys boundless acres of golden sands. During the summer season, there are lifeguards on duty at the beach
Trebetherick Cornwall
Self Catering Holidays Trebetherick Cornwall
Trebetherick is situated between Rock and Polzeath on the North Cornwall coast. It boasts a fabulous beach at Daymer Bay, and it is famous for St. Enodoc Church which is where the Poet Laureate John Betjeman is buried. He had a huge love of this area from childhood on, and many of his poems express his fondness for this outstanding area of Cornwall. To find great self catering cornwall properties visit http://www.dbholidays.com
