Hypnosis to help you achieve your goals

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnotic techniques to help people to effect positive change in their lives.

Hypnosis is very natural, and just a natural way of using our minds and our imagination in order to achieve our goals.

What can Hypnosis do?

Hypnosis can be used to help with all sort of issues.

For example:-

* Relieve Sress & anxiety
* Achieve your goals
* Achieve success in your career
* Help you earn more money
* Achieve supreme self-confidence
* Learn techniques which boost your confidence at relevant times (anchors)
*Improve your performance, such as public speaking or passing exams
* Phobias
* Lose weight and maintain weight loss
* STOP Smoking
* Live the life you really want to live in abundance
* Many other issues

Stress

Self hypnosis is a perfect tool to address stress and anxiety. I know this from my own experience.

Once you become familiar with the technique, it takes only a few minutes out of your busy day.

It helps you to get in touch with yourself. We all have that calm centre within us. It is just a case of taking regular periods to get in touch with our inner world and to tap into our inner resources.

If you take the time to practice self-hypnosis, you will start to feel stronger and calmer.

Our unconscious mind knows what we need, and if we listen to our inner voice, we can achieve a sense of calm and feeling at one with ourselves.

It really is a fantastic stress buster!!

Inductions

To place some-one into hypnosis (it is referred to as "induction") we relax some-one physically, and then mentally. It is when we are in this relaxed state that we can by-pass the critical faculty of our conscious mind, and address the Subconscious part of our minds. As adults, the critical faculty of our conscious mind rejects most new ideas. However, when we are in a very relaxed state, we can give messages to our Subconscious Mind, which is the most effective goal-achieving vehicle there is! When our Subconscious Mind accepts an idea, it just sets up the circumstances to achieve it!

I will give you a very simple framework for self-hypnosis in this blog that you can use for yourselves. It is best to keep it very simple at first. You will find that with practice you will be able to relax more deeply and more quickly each time. When I work with clients, I can use more complex techniques, but if you are going to use self-hypnosis to benefit yourself, it is best to keep it really simple.

Principles of Suggestions

There are a few important principles to cover first:

Firstly, you must always make your suggestions in the positive. As mentioned in my lens on The Laws of Attraction , as soon as you give a negative eg. that you "do not want to be poor", you immediately throw up images of being "poor", and that is the message given to your Subconscious Mind, so it sets out to achieve poverty for you! So give your Subconscious Mind a positive message - eg "I AM wealthy, and abundance flows to me".

Always phrase your suggestions in the present tense, not the future tense.
Visualise your positive outcomes. Imagination is such a strong part of ourselves, so it is really effective to see ourselves as strong and abundant, or attractive, or whatever we wish to be. Build up the colours, and let them become vibrant. This will get easier with practice.

Personal Power Spot

This is a powerful technique we use in hypnosis. We suggest that you visit a place out in nature where you feel calm, relaxed and safe. It can be a place you have actually visited, or one in your imagination, it really does not matter. When I work with clients, I work hard to build the image of this place up, so that it seems real. I then use it as a foundation in subsequent sessions. At the start of each session, I return the client back to that safe place, which helps them to relax as deeply as they did in the last session, like a sort of short-cut, and then work out from there. I also suggest that clients take themselves back to this special place in their mind's eye whenever they need to feel calm and relaxed. This is a feature you can use for yourselves. I suggest that you integrate this Personal Power Spot into your self-hypnosis framework, which I detail below.

Emerging from the trance state

This is the method for bringing a person out of a trance. Remember, hypnosis can do no damage, as it is perfectly natural. The worst that can happen is that you fall into a deep sleep, but you WILL wake up!

In this simple exercise of self-hypnosis, we shall just use a simple counting up exercise.

Another principle is that it is good practice to count down to deepen a trance - eg 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc and to count up to emerge from a trance - eg 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Simple Self Hypnosis Exercise

Get yourself into a comfortable place, where you will not be disturbed, take the 'phone off the hook, turn off your mobile 'phone etc. Place yourself in a comfortable position, and close your eyes.

Give yourself a pre-hypnotic suggestion that you are going to count down slowly from 1 to 10, and that with the counting of each number, you will DOUBLE your feeling of relaxation. This sets up the message for your Subconscious Mind so that once you start counting it will help you relax more with the counting of each number. Tell yourself at the count of 10 you will find yourself in your Personal Power Spot. Each time you visit this special place out in nature, it will become more realistic to you, and you will be able to tap into your inner resources.
After the count of 10, you will find yourself in your Personal Power Spot, and you will be feeling calm and relaxed. Then proceed to give yourself your positive suggestions. It is best to deal with one issue at a time, so as not to cause confusion.
Enjoy the experience, repeat the positive suggestions over and over, and see yourself as successful. Believe that you are achieving whatever goal you are setting. Enjoy the scenery! This should be like a mini-vacation!

When you have finished, emerge yourself. Tell yourself that you are going to count up from 5 to 1, and at the count of 1 and not before, you will open your eyes, and feel wonderfully refreshed and full of feelings of wellbeing. Then you just count up :- 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - 1 your eyes are open and you feel wonderful!!

A few comments

This is a very simple way of doing self-hypnosis. Remember that you do not necessarily need to be a deep state of relaxation for self-hypnosis to be effective. We are just aiming for a relaxed day-dreaming sort of state, where you feel in rapport with yourself. You do not need a deep state of hypnotic trance for it to work, and if you go too deeply, you will just go to sleep. Do not worry about it, or force it, just know that it will improve with practice.
This is time well-spent, as you can achieve so much more in your life if you approach your goals in a relaxed state, and using the power of your Subconscious Mind.
If you engage a hypnotherapy practitioner, you can achieve a deeper level of trance, as you can relax completely, knowing that the practitioner is trained and skilled in giving you the suggestions relevant to you, and in taking you into and out of the hypnotic state. However, you can achieve a lot on your own, and enjoy beneficial changes in your life.

About Me

As a young graduate, I entered Human Resources as a career, which I practiced for many years', ultimately being a HR Director. During this time, I worked hard to gain all the relevant qualifications I could, studying on a part-time basis. I studied HR Management, and gained the Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and Training, and also achieved my Masters in HR Management. I furthered this with a Law Degree, and the solicitors' vocational qualification, and after that, specialised in employment law and representing employers at Tribunals.

However, I did not find HR Management to be totally satisfying, so 8 years' ago, I decided to look into something which had always interested me: hypnotherapy. I undertook the Foundation Course at the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in London, and followed that with the Diploma in Hypnotherapy (DCH), in which I received a First Class Pass, and which qualified me as a hypnotherapy practitioner. I furthered this with the Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy (DHP), and a Masters in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

I have since studied NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and am a Master NLP Practitioner, as the techniques can be combined with hypnotherapy.
I have studied Business and Life Coaching, and I have several Coaching Qualifications including the Diploma in Life Coaching of The UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences.

I have also qualified as a Reflexologist, passing the BTEC diplomas in Anatomy and Physiology and Reflexology.

My Other Credentials

Registered Member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy;
Qualified Member of The UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences;
Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel Management & Training CIPD
I have a sense of humour, and enjoy helping people. I love to see the developments that people make as a result of hypnosis. I started practicing hypnotherapy 7 years' ago, on a part-time basis, just to get the practice at first. I have recently moved to the South Coast of England, and going to re-start a hypnotherapy practice. As life coaching is normally done by telephone, I can offer a telephone service, with the added advantage that I can incorporate hypnosis and other skills to help people make real progress in their lives. The telephone aspect opens it up so that I can be available to anyone from almost everywhere. (I have taken up an all-inclusive telephone service which enables me to make the telephone calls).

All best wishes,

Diane
