Self Motivation Tips For Success
Self motivation tips is a lens that will help you develop some of the internal skills that lead to you achieving much more in life. As a professional coach one of the things that I find with a number of people is that they are capable of many great things but really struggle to follow through unless they are being "pushed". With them the motivation is external and most of the time they're looking for someone else to keep them going. A much more empowering way would be for them to learn some of the techniques for self motivation and that way they would not only achieve more but they would have a far stronger sense of achievement.
In this lens we'll look at some of those motivational techniques and how you can take them and apply them in your own life. Here's the kicker though; If you don't apply them they won't work for you. Stunningly obvious I know but sadly it's where most people fail. You probably know at least one person like that. They can tell you word for word the teachings of the best motivational speakers like Bob Proctor, Anthony Robbins, Robin Scharma and the rest of the guys. They can give you a reading list to make the British Library envious. They've probably bought every success cd on the market and attended motivational summits but they're still in the same place they started at. Why? Simply because that's all great stuff but it's external and they lack SELF motivation.
Give Your Motivation A Boost!
So the next time you're feeling a lack of motivation try some of these suggestions:
1. Start to move around. The very act of moving your body can change your mindset. Strange as it may sound changing your posture changes your mental attitude. Try throwing your shoulders back and putting a huge silly grin on your face.
2. Get out and get some fresh air. Going for a walk outdoors allows us to increase the amount of life-giving oxygen in our body. It also gives us a connection with the natural world. In just a few minutes you'll begin to feel much more focused and productive...

Mini Motivator 1
Just begin.
It's the start of any task that's often the hardest for many of us, because we convince ourselves the task will be either unpleasant, boring or both. However, it's easy to trick your mind into believing that you are only going to work at it for a few minutes. Set a timer for 15 minutes again. Promise yourself you can stop working after that 15 minute period if you want to, but you do have to work for at least that long. More often than not, when the 15 minutes are up, you're already "in the groove" so you don't want to stop!
Finding Your Own Motivation
If you want to get and stay motivated, it is helpful to first identify the things that serve as your hot buttons. Once you know what they are, it's very easy to keep doing them and keep your motivation high.
The best way to start is by considering the simple things you've done in the past that have made you feel motivated. Do you have some favourite books that fire you up when you read them? Does a certain movie always inspire you? Do you admire certain famous people for their accomplishments and yearn to follow in their footsteps?
Your motivation doesn't always have to come from positive, uplifting stuff either!

Mini Motivator 2
Push yourself harder. If you think it will take you an hour to finish a particular task, make it your goal to finish it in, say, just 30 minutes. If you think you're capable of a certain amount of productivity, push yourself to increase that output by at least half. Many of us have a bad habit of pampering ourselves rather than pushing ourselves to be the best we can and to do better. Deciding to step things up a notch can motivate you to keep doing just that and power through any feelings of procrastination.
Put Your Mind To Work
Mini Motivator 3
Visualise your end result. Most of us usually avoid working hard or pushing ourselves just for the sake of doing so, but if you focus on a positive benefit of completing a task you'll feel more inclined to work on it. Set aside a few minutes before you start and imagine how good you'll feel when you've got the job done. Allow yourself to feel the feelings you'll have when you've accomplished whatever it is that you set out to achieve - whether it's satisfaction, pride, happiness, excitement, or simple relief. This gets the good feelings flowing and motivates you to do what it takes to create that experience "for real".

- I'm afraid that at the moment I'm more in need of motivation than able to provide tips. I do agree that getting moving helps though - I have a garden swing that I often go to in order to relax a bit and get a new perspective. Blessed

- It can be hard to get motivated at times, but you're right it all begins with action. Even one small step is a step in the right direction.

- Setting short and long term goals and giving yourself a reward or a break at each check point is a major motivator for me. A very informative and useful lens. A need of the hour to stay motivated indeed. Thanks and good day.

- Mini Motivator #4: Curiosity
Aren't you tickled to know how something is best achieved, or how-to-do-it?
Think like an ever-curious kid who wants to dismantle a clock and see how it works. Only we, as adults, know that we have to put it back together - and we want (or perhaps we "have", and I mean it as an inner impulse) to know this "how-to-reach-that-desired-end-result".

- Ive just begun reading The Happiness Project, a current bestseller and I forget the author's name just now. However, one of her first tips was the One Minute Rule. If something can be done in one minute, do it right now. Speaking as someone who is always disorganized and surrounded by clutter, this sounds like a brilliant idea and I plan on putting it to practice.

- Thanks for the tips!
I think; the best motivator is visualizing the results. If you know what you want and why you want it, that means you really desire it. So, you do not have to ask yourself how to motivate, your mind will be busy with your goal every moment.
