The Funnel Concept

The funnel concept is a great way to visualize your business when you sell your knowledge over the internet. Understanding it shows you the strategy to make money on the internet.

If you are familiar with a funnel, you know that it features a small opening on the bottom and a large opening on the top. A funnel allows you to place a large volume on the wide side and a small volume comes out on the other end. The difference in volume is directly related to the differences in size for each of the various sizes.

Your Product Portfolio 

When you are running a real online business your product portfolio should look the exact same way. At the top of your portfolio should be free offers that people can obtain with no strings attached. A perfect example is a free article you write on a blog. As you continue on through your portfolio, you should require more but offer better value. You might offer a free report in exchange for an email address. You then offer a $10 report, a $50 book, a $100 training program and so on.

So what are the benefits to setting a business where you sell your knowledge up like a funnel? It naturally makes it easier for you to build up trust in the minds and hearts of your prospects. As your prospects make the decision to invest more with you, it allows you to build trust in their mind by delivering on the value you promised on your sales page. This is because every increase in value and price requires a greater commitment from your prospect.

Build Trust with Your Customers 

As a result, it is important that you take the time to build confidence in you in the mind of your customers. You need to demonstrate to them through your marketing process when you sell your knowledge that you care about them and not just their money. The key to these online business opportunities is to build trust in the mind of your customers. This will help them to understand your message and they eventually become promoters of your message, which is how you find affiliates.

This is exactly how the funnel works in your internet marketing business. As you begin your real online business, your main focus is to find something to sell. If you can do that, you know you can make money. That being said, the business owners who recognize this process will make more money and will have more customers doing higher value transactions with them because of this. As the needs of their customer, they are able to meet those needs.

As a result, as you continue to grow the confidence and ability of your customer base, they will continue to want more products from you that address all of their needs. Your products should provide more value. Your products should automate some of the tasks they need to do. This will help your customers to expand the capabilities of their business. Of course, if you are just getting started, you might need to take it slow. However, you do want to keep this in mind so that you can build your business accordingly.

Build Your Business Funnel by Selecting the Right Products 

There are many people who launch their eBook business by selling a number of unrelated products. This is a funnel not a public library! You need to have focus in your marketing. The entire point of the funnel is to use related products and services to move your customers through the wide part of the funnel so that they do business with you in the deep, tight, highly customized and high price point areas of online business opportunities.

The end goal with everything that you do marketing wise, whether sending out emails, pay per click advertising, social marketing, etc, should focus on moving more customers through your funnel. Like a physical funnel, it gets smaller and smaller as you go through. This is why you want to have a number of lower priced, lower commitment products at the entry point of your funnel. Your higher priced products should be in the middle and your highest price; highest customized products should be at the end.

Use Different Formats and Have a Newsletter 

Do not feel that you have to restrict yourself to a certain product type. For instance, I sell the same product in 3 different formats. I sell it as a physical book, an audio book and an electronic book. I sell it at three separate prices and they all sell well.

This is exactly why you need to include a newsletter as a part of your eBook business funnel. Your newsletter is often the only way you can move more people through the funnel. It allows you to build the trust and likeability factor that is so necessary to make more deeper funnel sales and show that you are a legitimate home business.

The other thing my marketing funnel does is it eventually allows me a platform of communication for my ultimate mission. My ultimate mission is to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ to everyone that I meet. By teaching families how to create an income from real home business opportunities, this allows them a vehicle for God to be a blessing in their lives. If it also allows me to make money in the process, that is just great as well!
