Big Truck Models
I was blessed one summer with a load of about 100 truck models from an Estate sale. It was the most fun I ever had with models and selling on Ebay. There were parts everywhere that I had to piece back together with it's original truck. I wish I had kept more photos, what was I thinking? Because of my lack of space I just kept this one Transtar.
A neat thing that the guy did with this truck is the paint job. Back then they didn't have the neat paint we do today, so what he did was put on a layer of silver, then carefully sprayed a thin layer of blue to make a metallic bright blue. He also did that with the Movin On truck and a few others of that age, to match the popular paint jobs of that time.

In my years of dealing in models the biggest mistake people make is not scraping off a little of the chrome where it would glue to another plastic piece. The glue doesn't really bond to it and the part falls off in a year or so. Please when you build models just take a few moments out to sand a little bit off. Plus sand down the excess and stub from where it was on the tree. Your model building will go a lot smoother.

Some truck models come with hoses and some don't. Save the springs out of old pens and save colored wire. Wind the wire around a pensil to make a coil, make 3 different colored ones, and then use the pen spring to hang the coils behind the cab. It looks great!

The Impressive Roadtrain Trucks

1/24 American Superliner ITA553820

Those things are uncomfortable!
Now in the US the have lifted the length regulations on the tractors and I now see tractors long enough to put a pool in. (just waiting for that model to come out) Still there are regulations on the trailers.
Not is Australia! They are allowed to haul many trailers, so they need super strong tractors. The super liners look very impressive because of the size, snorkels and guard in the front.
I put one video here, but you should certainly watch more.

HO RTR Mack R Tractor w/40' Trailer, Overnite

One way to see what is out there is grab a free Walthers catalog. They have different ones on sale each month and are always adding new ones.
Amazon has a great selection of HO Kenworths and Macks. Their search is a little tricky, you need to go to Toys then type in ho ken worth or ho mack.
Also look on eBay by putting in HO and the truck you are looking for or 1/87. Also check N scale.
Matchbox cars are too big for HO, but their trucks are perfect.
Walmart has recently started to carry 1/87 scale die cast trucks. They are very nice. Check in on them every so often because when they sell out a batch the next batch is different.
