THE RIGHT WAY
Sermon written by God but spoken through me
JOHN 3:1-7
BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH
SEPT. 28, 2008A.M.
INTRODUCTION:
This morning if you would go out and ask seven different people what it means to be a Christian. You would get seven different answers. The word Christian has become a catch all word in America. There is a large percentage of people in America claiming to be a Christian. There is much confusion in the world today about which church has the right way to get to Heaven. You go to one church and you will get one answer. Then you go to another church you will get different answer, so now you go to a third church and get a totally different answer. Now you are totally confused and scratch your head and say to yourself " Which one is telling the truth?
We must come back to the Word of God. Through the word of God we will find the true answers to the questions we have.
Turn with me this morning to John Chapter 3 we will see a man in the same predicament , he was confused about some things. This man's name was Nicodemus.
I. FIRST HE WAS CONFUSED ABOUT WHO JESUS WAS
A. HE WAS JUST A TEACHER VS. 2
1. He said no man could do these miracles unless God be with him.
2. He was confused thinking Jesus was just a teacher and Rabbi.
NOTE: NICODEMUS WAS NOT A DUMB PERSON, HE WAS A RULER OF THE JEWS , A MEMBER OF THE SANHEDRIN, AND A MASTER OF ISRAEL.
B. NICODEMUS CAME TO JESUS BY NIGHT VS. 2
1. He probably came by night in fear of the Jews .
NOTE: Nicodemus was called a secret disciple of Jesus by one commentator. There are people out there today that are secret disciples, they have never publicly announced that they have been Born Again.
I. NOT ONLY WAS NICODEMUS CONFUSED ABOUT WHO JESUS WAS
II. NICODEMUS WAS CONFUSED ABOUT ON THE WAY OF SALVATION VS.4
A. HE THOUGHT A SECOND PHYSICAL BIRTH
1. " Nicodemus smith unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
2. Note: that Nicodemus was a Pharisee which is concerned about the outer man the Physical. They were concerned more about what man sees than what God sees. Isn't that the way a lot of people think today?
B. THERE ARE MANY TODAY ALSO CONFUSED ABOUT SALVATION
1. There are many people today that can identify with Nicodemus' thoughts on salvation.
2. Many people think it's about the cleaning up of the outer man. Will get them to Heaven, what a lie from Satan. Here are some of the lies He wants people to believe:
A. Well if I just turn over a new leaf.
B. If I just quit a habit
C. If I just come and join a church.
D. MAYBE IF I DO SOME GOOD WORKS
I. NOT ONLY WAS NICODEMUS CONFUSED ABOUT WHO JESUS WAS
II. HE WAS ALSO CONFUSED ABOUT THE WAY OF SALVATION.
III. JESUS CORRECTED HIS CONFUSION VS. 3
A. JESUS ANSWERS HIS CONFUSION
1. Jesus answers in verse 3 " verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
2. The Words verily, Verily Mean Truly, Truly, Jesus wants Nicodemus to know the Truth as well as He wants you and I to know the Truth on the way to Heaven.
B. THE BIBLE HAS THE RIGHT ANSWER TO CONFUSION AMEN !
1. Just as He says In John 14:6 "I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE: NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME"
2. This verse makes it very clear for everyone That He is the only way or only path to heaven.
3. Regardless of what some are saying today that there are many ways to Heaven , this is just another deception of SATAN.
4. The Bible also says : "For by grace are ye saved through faith: that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God." vs.9 " Not of works, lest any man should boast."
NOTE: Jesus answered Nicodemus in verse 5 , " Verily, verily , I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Note: There must be a second birth in order to escape the Second death Amen !
C. YOU MAY BE HERE THIS MORNING CONFUSED
1. Salvation is a simple step , although different churches make it so confusing.
2. Salvation , Or being Born again is simply believing in our hearts what Jesus has Done on the Cross of Calvary. What did he do?
A. He died for our sins.
B. He shed his blood for our sins.
NOTE: Just as we sing " WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY SIN? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS; WHAT CAN MAKE ME WHOLE AGAIN ? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
C. He arose again and sitting on the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.
3. The bible also says in John 3:15 " That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life"
4. Read John 3:16-18
CONCLUSION:
WE SEEN THIS MORNING THE CONFUSION THAT NICODEMUS HAD ON WHO JESUS WAS, WE SEEN THE CONFUSION HE HAD ON SALVATION, MAYBE YOU'RE HERE THIS MORNING YOU MAY BE LIKE NICODEMUS CONFUSED ABOUT HOW TO GET O HEAVEN. MAYBE YOU FEEL THE HOLY SPIRIT TUGGING ON YOUR HEART TELLING YOU NEED TO LET HIM IN
YOU NEED TO COME AND I WILL TAKE THE WORD OF GOD AND SHOW YOU HOW TO BE TRULY BORN AGAIN.
MAYBE , YOU'RE HERE LOOKING FOR A CHURCH HOME IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRULY BORN AGAIN AND STRUCTURALLY BAPTIZED YOU CAN COME AND JOIN THIS CHURCH THIS MORNING.

I believe many Bible prophecies are being fulfilled right now.... I also believe this whole world is about to fall into the Great tribulation next year, according to God's perfect timing, and according to specific prophecies in the Holy Bible.
