Sesame Street Animation...one photo at a time.

Stop-motion animation, also known as stop-action or frame-by-frame, is the method of animation whereas photos are taken of a scene in succession with slight changes made to the scene between each shot. Sesame Street used this method to bring to us an amazing, free moving, and sometimes psychedelic world.

Stop-Motion Food

Food is an obvious subject for Sesame Street stop-motion films. At any age, in any place, food is a part of daily life. Every child has had experience with it, so to imagine it moving around on its own works for everyone.

Teeny Little Super Guy

A cup full of wisdom.

Who can't love the Teeny Little Super Guy. He always had tidbits of advice to give in such a lovable way. Plus, he had a great theme song.

So many lessons in such a little cup.

This set of stop action letters was done with sand on a piece of glass that was backlit with colored lights. A great example of Sesame Street imagination (recommended by Laura).

Tell me what you think.

Do you know of any other stop-motion clips from Sesame Street? are they online? I am looking for the one where the fruit move around...if you find it, let me know.

Cecille the singing ball was the best character on Sesame Street. I wish the writers need to make more good songs for Cecille to sing on the show...

Sand letters. Stop motion animation of letters by pushing around sand on a sheet of glass backlit, usually set to banjo music. Loved that technique, but can't find but one version of it.

I want to see that one too. I can't recall what the soundtrack was - I had thought it was part of the orange singing an aria but clearly that was just my faulty memory. But I definitely remember fruits chasing each other...
