Sewing With Velvet

I love velvet. No, I adore velvet! About 75% of my wardrobe is made of velvet. I live in velvet. It is my absolute favorite fabric. It's also a fabric that can be quite difficult to work with.

Many sewers avoid sewing with velvet at all costs, because it slips will sewing, pops seams while wearing, and sheds fluff like crazy clogging up your sewing machine and causing it to need to be cleaned several times during sewing the project.

Velvet is a very high maintenance fabric, requiring special care. Velvet is a very expensive luxury fabric that you simply can not afford to make mistakes with. Silk velvet is among the most expensive fabric made and can cost as much as $75 per yard!

I'm creating this lens, to help out those who have never worked with velvet before, and are seeking out help. I am trying to make this lens as detailed as possible, and it may take me a few months to finish this, as I've got a lot of information I want to put on here, so keep coming back to watch for updates.
