I have talked to some men about this problem - they feel they are walking on egg shells and could be on a dangerously slippery slope if they get this one wrong! If you buy it too large - she may be upset because you think she is bigger than she actually is. Buy it too small - it could go either way - either she is fuming because you clearly could not be bothered to find out the right size, or, she is 'secretly' very happy, because you are blissfully unaware of her real size and she will be able to return it for the correct size.
But does it all need to be like this?
There are loads of hints and tips out there, and many of the key issues are listed below....

BeCheeky.com provides many styles in easy Small, Medium or Large. Where a more distinct size is required, there are plenty of ways to find out her size without asking her outright and ruining the surprise:
Choosing the right style is important but tricky as there are no hard and fast rules, it literally comes down to personal taste so look out and pay attention! Ultimately you are buying a gift for HER, but lingerie is a treat for YOU too. Try and strike a balance between something you think she will like and something that you're keen on as well. She wants to feel sexy and you want her to as well, but she won't feel sexy if she's not comfortable.
Don't forget you're buying a gift, so purchasing some day-to-day panties or practical support bra might not go down that well. It's worth looking for something a little exciting, but bear in mind if it's the first time you are buying lingerie for her or you haven't known her long, some restraint may be advisable. Micro g-strings for example are a lot more daring than a tasteful designer thong.
For inspiration, why not go back to her wardrobe and look at what she normally wears? As a general guide, if she wears tight fitting clothes she may prefer sheer fabric such as sheer mesh and cotton so that her lingerie doesn't show beneath her clothes. Tight or bright clothes may also be a good indicator of body confidence on her part, so it may be worth looking at some daring lingerie sets. On the other hand, if she wears looser clothes and floaty skirts she may like chiffon lingerie, e.g., ruffle knickers and boyshorts. However, do bear in mind that some lingerie products are more suited to the bedroom, purely for pleasure rather than for wearing beneath clothes for practicality on a day-to-day basis.
