There are only a small list of individuals today who have achieved the moniker 'entrepreneur'
and given the general public something to strive for. Drew Hester is quickly joining that list.
As a college student in early 2009, Hester launched a new
user-to-user ecommerce website called ShankMeister.com.
What makes Hester an entrepreneur is that he was a typical starving college student who had
an epiphany moment in class and acted on it. He was selling used golf clubs on eBay to make
cash, but a spreadsheet he did for class showed him they were taking 22% of his profits.
With spreadsheet and idea in hand¸ Hester created a simple platform: golfers list their old clubs
for sale as they would on eBay, but ShankMeister wasn't going to gouge them with commission
fees.
Within months, ShankMeister was up and running as a user-to-user-everything-golf-website.
Fast forward a year and Hester has put college on hold and sits in a corner office with four
full-time employees and over half a million hits a month. "When you find the niche you love,
that becomes your passion," says Hester. "For me, it was the feedback day after day from my
customers about how simple the transactions were." But ShankMeister is more than a PayPal
transaction.
"Our brand is about the sellers and the buyers," Hester is quick to note. "Clients who are
exposed to our brand share that message back to the community of those who love the game.
It's simple marketing at ShankMeister. It is about community not rhetoric."

The talks are starting! Craig Stadler
The 1982 Masters winner, will be a part of your ShankMeister.com community. And not as a member but an owner. Drew Hester, our founder of ShankMeister.com, reached out to the Walrus several months ago to bring onboard "PGA credibility." Many golfers buy from the Internet; in fact, last year alone 3.7 million golfers used eBay as their golfing marketplace. While this is wonderful news that the Internet has opened a gateway for golfers to find all the products they need whether it be individual irons, used golf clubs, gadgets and/or training aids.... what has the success of eBay done for the golfing world? That's a big question golfers should be asking! And this is the main reason for bringing Craig Stadler onboard as a ShankMesiter principal. There needs to be an Internet marketplace where the community members are either golfers or in the golfing world. It's strange to think that 3.7 million golfers went to a marketplace that didn't give back to the golfing industry especially when the economy is what it is.The next question, of course, is to address the golfer's concern.... "But I found it on eBay - can I find it on ShankMeister.com?" And this concern is something Drew Hester and the rest of our ShankMeister crew are setting out to resolve. If you're selling on eBay, then sell on ShankMeister.com, too - as long as you're a person that believes in the game of golf, that is. We want you to know that Drew and all of us at ShankMeister have been spending hours each day "weeding out" the credible sellers on the Internet. There are two reasons for this. One, we want a website that delivers customer service, which means we answer the phone and respond to emails.... "we help golfers find the products they want." But just as importantly, Craig Stadler isn't going to put his stamp of approval on any company that doesn't have the golfer's interest at heart, and that makes us want Craig Stadler on our team more than anything!
