Sharp Aquos LC20D42U 20-Inch LCD HDTV

I know how challenging it can be to find a small, great quality HDTV, since I have been searching for one for quite a while. I found that the Sharp Aquos LC20D42U 20-Inch LCD HDTV has a number of features that make it the best choice in this market.

To begin with, the space it takes up is minimal: at 20.6 x 8.8 x 15.7 inches and a mere 15.8 pounds, I have found it to be the perfect size for the kitchen counter. It would also be an excellent choice for a bedroom t.v. or even a dorm room where space is at a premium.

Picture quality was important in my choice, as this t.v. is viewed a lot during the day and evening. The Sharp Aquos does not disappoint. It features a high-performance LCD panel for high brightness,a high contrast ratio, low-reflection glare protection and wide viewing angles which all combine to provide an excellent viewing experience. The color is excellent, the picture is extremely clear, and we love the fact that the "off-angle" viewing is great!

There were few small screen LCD HD sets available at either Circuit City or Best Buy to view. It seems that they are only interested in selling the big screen sets. I bought a Samsung 24 inch that had just come out. After 10 days I returned it to the store. The picture was dark and no matter what adjustments I made the picture quality was poor. The Sharp 20 inch Aquos is far superior. The picture quality is excellent. The picture is crisp. We are totally pleased with this set which we use in our kitchen. I was reluctant to buy a TV from Amazon. The experience was perfect. No more going to the big electonics stores and talking to idiots for me.

This is hands down the BEST HD flat screen available. I have had a Phillips HDTV that crashed and burned (and Phillips would not honor their product-BEWARE OF PHILLIPS TELEVISIONS), and a Westinghouse flat screen (the Westinghouse was a good performer BUT the speakers were the worst in the world). Thank God I have a JVC unit that will play through the vcr.

The Sharp has the best screen by far, and has been a solid performer so far. I bought the extra 2-year warranty from Sharp.

Everything I wanted - I have two 20" and one 32" of the same TV. I imagine if you were a real TV freak you could find imperfections, but they all work great for me. Worked perfectly (all three) out of the box. There is a start up delay and channel change delay, but that is apparently inherent in this type of TV (have seen the same thing in other brands. All are hooked up to sort of crappy community cable systems and the pictures are great - would imagine a hook up to a dedicated satellite would be outstanding.
