Shona stone sculpture is an African art form. Sculptors carve pieces in a variety of sizes from a single piece of stone. Many sculptors say that they are "unleashing the spirit within" with the stone: They don't come up with the pieces, they are already there, yearning to breathe free. Ukama
"Ukama" is a subset of Shona sculpture based on the family. The artists carve the figures of a family, all linked together, symbolizing the enternal spiritual bond of the family. Another popular style like this are "Mother and Child" pieces, show here. Shona Artists
