- I don't care what others might think of Michael Moore, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind. I respect him for that.

- I don't always agree with Michael Moore, but I think he's an important liberal voice who is thankfully able to make himself heard. For all that conservatives go on about the main stream media's liberal bias, the truth is that America has lurched so far to the right that modest proposals of health care reform are met with cries of "socialism," "communism" and incongruently, "fascism."
Then you turn on the TV and hear Glenn Beck insinuating that Obama is proposing (despite the fact that he's not yet proposed anything) a return to Eugenics and Nazi programs of euthanizing the mentally disabled--while in the next breath he denies that that is what he's doing.
My favorite Michael Moore movies are Sicko and Bowling For Columbine. I'm looking forward to seeing Capitalism: A Love Story
I'm lensrolling this to all my political lenses.

- Well, with so many ideas flying around I confess that I am confused.
Ok! One Payer Healthcare, but who is that one payer - the Government? The Governess which "by mistake" sent money from stimulus to people in prisons, and sent checks to died people as well? The Government which is not able to create a single simple piece of legislation? Each legislation bill has 10,000 pages, senators vote without to read as each bill must be done quickly? why? well, 9,000 pages are pork. Government didn't impress me as a great organizer.
Debate? I have a great question. We want to put in the system 50 millions of uninsured, ok, but nobody is talking about a need of more doctors, nurses, hospitals. How we will absorb in our system this impressive number without creating a backlog and jeopardizing the actual system if we don't prepare the infrastructure in advance? This is a question for debate! Please, give me an answer. just dreamers is not enough!
Great lens Thanks Michey

- An old friend of Michael Moore saw SiCKO for the first time here on this lens. He is totally amazed by the movie--and said Mike used to scare him and his friends when he wore his Richard Nixon mask when they were all kids!!
Hysterical!! So glad that someone saw SiCKO for the first time because of this lens.
The Health Insurance companies suppressed the film when it first came out, so very few people actually saw it.
We had to stage a telephone campaign here in Lancaster PA to get it shown here.
Bravo Amy Flynn for sending me the link.

- The truth is, greed in a society will always be, but should NOT as it pertains to healthcare. You are ahead of us because you have implemented a National Healthcare plan.
I don't kid myself that all will be perfect WHEN we get a Government plan in place. But poverty will be greatly reduced. People won't be losing their homes because they can't pay their medical bills. Which means homelessness in America will be a thing of the past.
In fact, the general health of everyone will improve.
It sure will make the lives of nurses and doctors less of a burden, and will reduce "Burnout."

- this is very well done. it's sad that anyone talking against the mainstream is portrayed as a kook in our media.
i support single payer healthcare; and now the bills being created with the public option are looking more like mandated health insurance like my state, massachusetts - which is a big failure - and still private. so even though the media makes it sound like a step in the right direction, it is not.

- Thanks for your replies to my comment, Chef Keem and Kate. The problem is that it is not just health services where big business interests come before those of the "man/woman/child in the street" - it happens over many other issues, including environment. We might have free health care over here - well free at source as the money is deducted from our pay packets each month but I dont begrudge that - but we do have a government that is prepared to bulldoze a whole village and displace thousands of families in order to make a new runway at Heathrow.
Blimey, this is turning into a great conversation!
So, please dont think that our Government is any better than yours when it comes to being swayed by big business!

- My goodness, AJ - I had no idea about the excellent health of your family. Congratulations! ;-) (If you'd lived in the USA, your family's list of services would have reduced your collective inheritance by a cool million, or so...)

- AJ--Thanks for your comment. Many of us are discouraged by the denigration of your healthcare system in the UK, which is orchestrated by the greedy health insurance companies here in America.
The problem is it's not just greed--it's murder.
That's the Awful Truth!!

- Kate, I am English, living in England as you know - so I do not have to be convinced about free health care and to be honest I am absolutely astounded that there is such resistance to it in the USA. I must admit that those who are denigrating the UK National Health System in order to use it as an argument against health care reforms in the USA are not making themselves too popular over here!
In my family we have had, or are having, first class, free treatment that includes the following:
Pre natal care & four births (two at home out of choice) plus post-natal
Diabetes
Cancer
Otosclerosis
Heart attack
Motor cycle accident
Bi polar
Other mental health problems
Parkinson's Disease
Auditory Processing Disorder
Appendicitis
Hernia
A knee completely rebuilt
Various physiotherapy for injuries
Vaccinations (childhood and for travelling)
And we are a relatively healthy family compared to some!
This is an excellent lens and the sort of Health Lens I like to see. SquidAngel Blessings for you

- You know what - the man has guts and I respect that. I love that he brings to light things that we may not be aware of - he makes you think. I may not agree with everything he says but I enjoy hearing his opinion on the various matters he discusses in his movies.

- Well, I wouldn't want to be married to Michael Moore, but I certainly do give him loads of credit for his biting commentaries and for his uncanny knack on focusing attention on THAT which really cries for attention. I was really not versed on 'single payer' but you have done a great job on presenting this topic!

- What's NOT to love about Michael Moore? He's the voice of The People and he's funny as hell. Unfortunately, history teaches us (or not, because we're boneheads) that many of the greatest world changers (for the better, of course) are often misunderstood by their contemporaries. Let's finally let go of our collective mob mentality and educate ourselves on the issues before we again misjudge a true hero. Blessings.
