Michael Moore: Love Him Or Hate Him, He Speaks Fearlessly
Michael Moore is definitely one of my favorite people.
I was on the Credential's Committee at the Democratic National Convention(DNC) in NYC in 1993. My candidate at the time was Jerry Brown, because he ran on a Single Payer Healthcare Platform.
That was a raucous convention, let me attest to that. All sorts of people were there to promote wild and crazy agendas. None of them were mainstream, at the time, if they ever were.
For instance, the Lyndon Larouche people were loudly protesting against the death penalty. And yes I agree with that but the people affiliated with LaRouche seem to think they are involved in some sort of spectator sport. Especially at the 1993 Democratic National Convention in 1993.

Michael Moore Was At The Democratic National Convention (DNC) In 1993, Too!!

Yes, Michael was there, too. This was right before his movie, "Roger And Me" was released, so he was an unknown public figure, then.
His charisma was unmistakable. We all met in the lobby of the Omni Hotel in NYC every morning, and so did Michael Moore. He always had an idea of a fun activity to disrupt this or that event, all in a spirit of fun. He reminded me of a Merry Prankster of 1960's fame.
He stood out and created a buzz. At the time he also wanted to promote his movie, so we all learned about "Roger And Me" but most importantly, I had a feeling he had what it took to become famous, even though he was homely, over weight and perhaps obnoxious. But not obnoxious, to me. He was able to articulate political truth, as I saw it, and judging from the crowd he attracted around him, lots of other people saw what I saw in Michael Moore.
Bill Clinton Threw A Multi-Million Dollar Party At DNC, Funded By Health Insurance Hot Shots

This was when I knew that Single Payer was off the table, because Bill and Hillary were profiting from OUR denied claims.
Even Hillary Care was a sham, because she never took Insurance Companies out of the equation.
However, we still met in the lobby of the Omni everyday, exchanged jokes and shared experiences with Michael Moore, and met other heavy hitting politicians.
One day we sat with a very unassuming man. He said he had a Single Payer resolution already made up for his own state, which he would send to us.
And he did.
We discussed healthcare reform and again, his perspective was spot on. He said it like it was. He obviously was in no one's back pocket, least of all the Health Insurance Companies.
At the end of the conversation, we asked: "Excuse me--What is your name again?"
He said, "Paul Wellstone, Minnesota Senator."
Funeral At An HMO--The Idea That Birthed SiCKO
Moore's gutzy style shines forth in this great clip, which birthed the idea for the movie "SiCKO!"
Can you imagine staging a funeral for a man who was about to die because the Health Insurance Company denied his claim? Right outside of the HMO itself??
How incredibly fearless!
What I like is Moore's attitude. No anger. Just playful and objective and detached.
Is Moore a Zen Master?

Moore Interviews A Physician In The UK
This physician is a government paid doctor. He does not have to call anyone to get a second opinion. He does not take money from his patients.
He lives in a beautiful home which he paid $1 million dollars for.
He makes $200,000 dollars a year.
The more he does for his patients in terms of helping his patients stop smoking or drinking alcohol, he gets more points for his good work.
Here's my favorite link:
Michael Moore On Capitol Hill
Michael Moore is here, giving a talk about removing the profit incentive involved in healthcare.
America is ready for a reform in the healthcare arena which takes care of every American, man, woman and child.
Here he is supporting the National Single Payer Bill, HR 676, which is no longer alive, at the moment.
Moore praises Hillary for at least trying to reform the healthcare system, who was demonized by the Health Insurance companies, who orchestrated chaos to put forth that message.
SiCKO Trailer
I love watching the "SiCKO" trailer. It captures the truth that the movie teaches.
It really shows us that the Health Insurance are guilty of first degree murder.
Where is the outrage??
SiCKO On Nightline Part 1
You may think you know Michael Moore.
Few know that he studied for the priesthood when he was a much younger man.
SiCKO was a mission of compassion for Moore.
Few know that not only is Moore a devout Catholic, but he is also a true blue Patriot.
Michael Moore says that the only pre-existing condition that should exist in this country is this: "I Am An American!! That's It!!!"
SiCKO On Nightline Part 2
In this segment of Nightline, Moore reveals what it was like to go to Havana, Cuba to seek healthcare for the 9/11 citizens of New York who went into the rubble after the attack on the World Trade Center to save anyone who was still alive. These people suffered from irreversible lung disease after their experience, and their health insurance would not pay for their medical help.
The doctors in Cuba are the best in the third world, and are held up as a model of service and compassion. They gave care to these people with an exemplary bedside manner. And not because they knew they were going to be in Sicko. They had no idea who Michael Moore was.
SiCKO is worth seeing for the Cuban clips alone.

- I don't care what others might think of Michael Moore, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind. I respect him for that.

- I don't always agree with Michael Moore, but I think he's an important liberal voice who is thankfully able to make himself heard. For all that conservatives go on about the main stream media's liberal bias, the truth is that America has lurched so far to the right that modest proposals of health care reform are met with cries of "socialism," "communism" and incongruently, "fascism."
Then you turn on the TV and hear Glenn Beck insinuating that Obama is proposing (despite the fact that he's not yet proposed anything) a return to Eugenics and Nazi programs of euthanizing the mentally disabled--while in the next breath he denies that that is what he's doing.
My favorite Michael Moore movies are Sicko and Bowling For Columbine. I'm looking forward to seeing Capitalism: A Love Story
I'm lensrolling this to all my political lenses.

- Well, with so many ideas flying around I confess that I am confused.
Ok! One Payer Healthcare, but who is that one payer - the Government? The Governess which "by mistake" sent money from stimulus to people in prisons, and sent checks to died people as well? The Government which is not able to create a single simple piece of legislation? Each legislation bill has 10,000 pages, senators vote without to read as each bill must be done quickly? why? well, 9,000 pages are pork. Government didn't impress me as a great organizer.
Debate? I have a great question. We want to put in the system 50 millions of uninsured, ok, but nobody is talking about a need of more doctors, nurses, hospitals. How we will absorb in our system this impressive number without creating a backlog and jeopardizing the actual system if we don't prepare the infrastructure in advance? This is a question for debate! Please, give me an answer. just dreamers is not enough!
Great lens Thanks Michey

- An old friend of Michael Moore saw SiCKO for the first time here on this lens. He is totally amazed by the movie--and said Mike used to scare him and his friends when he wore his Richard Nixon mask when they were all kids!!
Hysterical!! So glad that someone saw SiCKO for the first time because of this lens.
The Health Insurance companies suppressed the film when it first came out, so very few people actually saw it.
We had to stage a telephone campaign here in Lancaster PA to get it shown here.
Bravo Amy Flynn for sending me the link.
