Siberian Cat
The Siberian cats are physically strong. They are, in fact, powerfully built cats. They are characterized by their exceptional ability as high jumpers. The male cats of this breed weigh 15 to 20 pounds while the female cats weigh 10 to 15 pounds. These cats have large and round or almost round eyes and wide and medium ears. The tail is of medium length.
The Siberian cats are known for their personality. They are intelligent, affectionate, loyal and also playful. They like to spend time in the lap of their owners for which they are often referred to as lap cats. Their loyalty and intelligence and their being fond of the human companionship make them much like dogs.
You may like the presence of a furry Siberian cat with a bushy tail wandering inside your house. However, you have to take good care of the cat if you want it to stay healthy. Since these cats are carnivorous, they need food that contains high percentage of meat in it. You must get the ingredient list checked in order to see if the food that you are buying for your cat contains meat or not. In addition, you need to take care that your cat is getting enough of fresh meat.
The health of the Siberian cat should be of concern for you. These cats need a lot of exercise. You may also take your cat for a walk. Talk to it or you can even play with it. If you think that you cannot devote enough time for the cat, you may make arrangements that the cat can play with toys.
Even if you have children, there is no reason for you to be worried. The Siberian cats are quite friendly with children. If these cats are not tormented badly, they will not react violently in any way. Just teach your children not to hurt it, and your child will hardly get a better companion. Since this cat is active by nature, it will react positively and playfully to the human beings. It is also very easy to keep them happy.
There is one more advantage of having Siberian cats as pets. They have such rich furry coats that they can very easily cope with the cold weather. However cold the weather may be in some winter day, your cat has hardly the risk of catching a cold since these cats are naturally equipped to deal with wintry conditions.
It is often believed that the Siberian cats are actually a type of forest cats. The fact is quite different, though. The Siberian cat breed has been designed in the eighties from the cats that were found in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
