Sarah Brightman Classics
Sarah Brightman (born 14 August 1960) is an English classical crossover soprano, actress, songwriter and dancer.
Sarah Brightman was born to Paula and Grenville Brightman. Sarah is the eldest of the six children in the family. Sarah Brightman began taking ballet lessons from the age of three. By the time she turned eleven, Sarah was already learning acting and jazz from the Arts Educational Boarding School. Sarah Brightman has had her training in vocals first with Elizabeth Hawes, head of the Trinity Music College in London; and later with Ellen Faul of Juilliard; and later studied with
internationally renowned voice teacher David Romano.
Brightman debuted as a dancer in troupes such as Hot Gossip and later released a string of disco singles. At 14,Sarah made her theatrical debut in I and Albert at the Piccadilly Theatre, London, playing one of Queen Victoria's daughters--"Vicki". At 18 she joined Arlene Philips' raunchy dance group Hot Gossip. It was while singing and dancing with them that she made her first top 5 hit single with I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper with the B-side Do Do Do.
During her theatrical performances, Sarah Brightman released two solo albums:"The Trees They Grow So High"" {1988}, a collection of traditional folk songs accompanied by piano; and "The Songs That Got Away" {1989}, a collection of musical theatrical songs cut from the shows by composers such as Irving Berlin and Stephen Sondheim. Sarah Brightman went on to perform theatrical plays along with her husband Lloyd Webber until they took divorce in 1990. Sarah Brightman married music manager Andrew Graham Stewart at the age of eighteen. Their marriage ended in divorce and Sarah Brightman later married Lloyd Webber in 1984. The marriage with Lloyd Webber after lasting six years ended in divorce in 1990. She later dated Frank Peterson, her current producer. Sarah is reportedly dating Louis Oberlander.
Sarah Brightman along with Chinese singer Liu Han sang the sang the Olympics Theme Song at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
