Singin Tryouts- 8 tips for success

singing tryoutssinging tryouts can be a very scary and exhilerating time for a singer or entertainer. The questions is, how are you going to be better than the dozens, hundreds, and sometimes even thousands of other singers that are trying to get the gig. You already have an advantage because you are reading this article. It doesnt just apply to singing auditions either. This applies to acting, theater, dancing auditions, and even job interviews. Yes Job interiews! Not the singing part of course, but some of the other tips. So here it goes.

Singing Tryouts- picking the perfect song

That is right. Pick the right song I cannot tell you how important this is. Do not pick a song that you cannot sing well. Think about the notes in your audition song, if it's a mariah carey song, you better be able to hit those notes. Most likely you cant HIT, and I mean HIT them with confidence. If you cannot, it is ok, we all have different strength's. Play to your strength's. John Legend, or Norah Jones would not do a Mariah Carey song at an audition. That is not their strength. Pick a song that shows the best YOU have to offer, not someone else. You better believe that if you sing a well known song they are going to compare you to that performer's abilities.

Sing Tryouts- Have a back up song ready

Have a back up song ready. If you sang a slow song, have a fast song ready. These should all be rehearsed over and over again. Use the same songs at numerous auditions. You should not be thinking about what so you want to sing. You will look like and AMATEUR whether you are or not.

Singing Tryouts- Pick a song that sounds good acapella

This seems like a no brainer, but most people get it wrong. There are a lot of good songs that do not sound as good acapella. Pick a song and assume you will have no music. Unless of course it is a broadway audition. They will usually have a pianist present.
