How to get Customers for your Business

This webpage is designed to give the small business owner and work at home entrepreneuer ideas that will help them market their business and get new customers.

There are many free ways to advertise your small business. Many people search for businesses online, and you can let potential customers know about your small business by advertising online.

You can also get free business cards and free postcards to advertise your business.

FREE Business Cards

One of the first items you'll want to obtain to help spread the word about your new business is: Business Cards. Since you are just starting out and probably don't have a huge marketing & advertising budget, I recommend you start with free business cards. You can Get 250 FREE Business Cards from Vistaprint . You can also get free postcards, pens, letterhead, etc. They just want you to try their service are are willing to offer you a few free products to try them.

Prints Made Easy also offers Free Business Cards here

Prints Made Easy They also have good prices on letterhead, postcards, mailings, address labels, greeting cards, and brochures.

Get a Website

Even if you don't actually sell any products online, you'll still want to consider creating a website just for marketing purposes. Having a website will enable you to put in keywords and metatags which will bring your website up in search results when a potential customer uses the internet to find a business. Perhaps a potential customer is looking for a pool cleaning company near their hometown. They type into Google or Yahoo search the words "pool cleaning" and their zipcode. The search results will pull up all the websites that have keywords related to pool cleaning in that zipcode. If you don't have a website, you don't have the opportunity to be found. Your initial website can simply be a few pages that lists the products or services you provide, as well as your contact info. Here's an example of a small business website that just lists services offerred and contact info: Blue Cactus Pool.

Advertise for FREE on Craigslist & Backpage

Use free advertising services like Craigslist.com to advertise your business services or products for sale. You can make your ad stand out from the competition by using a template designed for Craigslist (see link below).

Build Craigslist Ads Free

Backpage.com also offers FREE classifieds. In addition to the free ad posts, you can pay a small fee ($0.50-$3.00) and Backpage will automatically repost your ad every so many days. A great feature that craigslist doesn't offer.

Accept Credit Card Payments thru Paypal

Whether you are selling jewerly or you have a landscape company, you'll want to offer your customers the opportunity to pay for your products and services with a credit card. When starting out the easiest way to do this is thru Paypal. If you have a website for your company, you can put a Paypal button on your website that will accept payments from your customers. If you don't have a website, you can still create invoices thru Paypal which you email to your customer and they can pay with a credit card. Paypal is safe and secure, and in fact, the person receiving the payment (you) never even sees the customers credit card info. Paypal keeps everything safe and secure.

Sign up for PayPal and start accepting credit card payments instantly.

Don't forget to make a FREE Squidoo page for your business too! Squidoo shows up high in google search rankings, so have at it! Don't forget to add TAGS to your Squidoo page. When you create the page you'll be asked to put in 3-4 tags that best describe your page. But as you edit your page, make sure you add more revelevent tags. This is the key to getting found!
She Told Me
Use SheToldMe.com to promote your website or blog if you have one. It's like Digg for a link to another webpage. You write a short description of your link and it is posted on their site. Others can vote your link up or down.

Make a YouTube Video

Ok, not a crazy video. Just something that gets your contact information out there. Why? Because for whatever reason, YouTube keywords show up highly on google searches. Watch this short video I made for a pool cleaning company.

Short, simple. It shows up on Search Engines.
