This retreat on the banks of the wild and scenic Myakka River demonstrated that old and new Florida can co-exist in close quarters. Snook Haven manager Hen Hansen sounds surprised himself when he remarks that often the restaurant hosts 800 people who come to hear dulcimer and banjo players. Check out the concert schedules and you will see that this place is about music as well as food, drink and scenery.
Captain Terry offers hour-long River tours aboard his pontoon boat or you can rent a canoe or kayak to explore the river on your own.

- Gosh, I think it was in the Cook Forest in PA many years ago. Someone yelled "Bear!" We all ran inside the cabin and hid ... a while later, we came out. "Where did you go?" It was only a dog!
